We are not quite finished with our place at Lake Travis (Austin) but we are almost finished with this deck. We wanted a place to sit outside where we could get a breeze and see the lake. We didn't want to cut the trees, so we built the deck around them. These are live oaks which give excellent shade. Attachments:

Very nice -- looks like a great place to unwind. What's the decking material?
At the the near by Jersey shore, mahogany (and now Trex) is the preferred lumber.

Looks like a good starting point for a water slide.

The decking material is treated Southern Yellow Pine. It holds up very well here if you are careful to not paint the bottom so it can breathe. The UV rays here are strong and the manmade decking materials tend to fade very quickly.
BTW, there is a big nude beach just over the trees to the left.

I could see falling out of that in a drunken stupor. I could see climbing the trees in a drunken stupor. All the squirrels do that.
