They are certainly hanging it out there by making the ch-ch-change. Was III doing poorly?

I don't know if III was doing poorly or not, but I suspect the business at III and the business at II could all have been crammed into II with room left over. So they figured it made sense to do that, and reach out to a new audience with III. Just MHO, of course.

I always thought that Hedo 2 had much more energy before they opened 3 and siphoned off a lot of the business. We went to 3 to check it out and it was nice, but we liked the grounds better at 2.

Yeah, I'm a "3 strikes and yer out" kinda guy. I went to H3 exactly 3 times -- my NYE when it opened ('99?), mid-May of 2001 (made an "off-cycle" trip between jobs) and mid-July of '04 (again, during a break between job ch-ch-changes); me pal Vbplyr made the last trip with me and she had the line of the week when she said, "So close, and yet so far" ... meaning, of course, she had made the long trip from NJ to Jamaica and was at H3 instead of H2.
By then, I'd given H3 chances and it never panned out for me, so I decided H2 would be my spot; I never went back to H3 and have never regretted that decision for a number of reasons.
I never want anyone's new business venture to fail, but I do have to say that H3 never contained any of the positive aspects that made me want to make it a regular spot in the way H2 always has.
My hope is that the closing of H3 will bring new and greater energy to H2. We'll see ...

My first trip was to H3... I had a good time and I had went as a single male. My second trip (also traveled solo) I tried H2 and had SOOOOO much more fun, the crowd is definitely more fun and has more energy. My wife and I have been back to H2 three times since my solo trip and will continue to go to H2. IMHO the only thing H3 has on H2 is the quad pool.

We made it to H3 almost as an afterthought. We had booked seven days at Hedo 2, but 11 days away from Texas, planning to catch a flight from MBJ to Havana and stay 4 nights there and then a week at H2. As it would happen, our trip was planned for early October 2001. After 9/11, flights from MBJ to Havana were curtailed and we decided that it was probably not the best time to be in Havana. We booked 4 days at H3 instead. H3 was nice enough and we liked the pier jutting out into the water but we like the vibe at H2 better.
