I had a feeling something was up with them re: JFK -- when I left for my New Year's trip, I went to the 1st Class lounge at JFK which they share with a number of other airlines. When I presented my ticket at the counter, they said I couldn't use the facility because I was flying on AJ. "But you have AJ's sign right outside your door as one of the airlines serviced by this lounge!", I replied. She admitted that yes, they should take the sign down but that AJ had ceased renting the facility several months prior.

Crisis averted. Thanks to Hazelita's Internet Mojo, we now have a full refund from AJ, and a new reservation, at twenty bucks cheaper (good for a couple of drinks at the airport), on a combo of United and Air Tran. The only downside is a four hour layover at Orlando (aka, Disney Hell) on the way home. I'll try to remember to pack my harpoon gun.
On the plus side: I will NEVER be tempted to fly with Air JaMaybe JaNOT again.

I'm tempted to try JetBlue because the one time I flew them to Vegas, I had a very positive experience with them -- but if I can find an airline that has an earlier takeoff, I may just wind up booking with them, even if they are more expensive.

but if I can find an airline that has an earlier takeoff, I may just wind up booking with them, even if they are more expensive. We did that in 2008. We flew US Assholes, I mean Airlines. It had a earlier arrival time in MB, but the flight sucked. Never again. As far as Air Jamaica I will never fly that cattle train again. I can not believe that you guys from NYC don't have a better choice of flights and times.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Joe

Spirit Airlines has a 6:45 departure from La Guardia, but it's not non-stop (ch-ch-change planes in Fla.).
Also, Delta has an early flight but you have to connect in Atlanta.
I miss those AJ 8AM non-stop flights!

We have one more month before we say good bye to Delta and hello to United. Just playing around with November dates I can get tickets as low as $580 up to $710 out of my home airport to MBJ, BUT every single itinerary requires an overnight in Philadelphia (home->Chicago->Philly->Charlotte->MBJ)
OTOH- If I drive to Chicago I am seeing a bunch of itineraries that run from $320 to $470, mostly leaving around 7am and getting into MBJ at 1:30pm

No matter what I have to make a stop over. Nothing direct from SFO. The nearest thing to direct would be AJ out of LAX but no fucking way. I have been looking at the Continental out of Dallas, if I can get a good time out of SFO to Dallas. Most likely in Dec. we will take AA to Miami then down to MBJ unless some one les pops up with a great deal or better route by mid July.

Joe Try American out of Dallas DFW or Continental out of Houston IAH. Both have nonstop flights to MBJ. The Dallas flight is about 3 hrs 45 min and the Houston is about 3 hrs 10 min. Both give pretty good service. We have flown Continental lately to MBJ.

We are actually flying AirTran this go around, flew them once before to Las Vegas, wasn't the best flight... then again, Becky was 8 months preggers at the time so that could have had something to do with it... ROFL The flight times aren't the greatest (6:45am departure, land in MBJ at 2:15pm), but we fly out of our little local airport here in Bloomington, IL (free parking) with a layover in.... ATALANTA.... the layover is about 3 hours, but that should give us just enough time to make it from one gate to the other... those of you that have flown through ATLANTA know what I am talking about. I was going to use air miles for the tickets, but when I seen AirTran had a sale going on and could get round trip for BOTH of us for under $1k I jumped on it and will save my air miles for something else.
In all seriousness, the flight times are actually not too bad, the 6:45am departure is nice cause we don't have to leave the house till about 5am and will still clear security and get shit checked in no problem and we should be on the beach drink in hand about Jerk Chicken time as long as we don't have any snags when we hit Montego Bay.
