We bought a flat screen HDTV for our house Austin (mainly to watch DVDs) but didn't want to pay for cable or satellite until I am retired and we are there more. We bought a cheap shit ($10 or $12) antenna from Wal Mart hoping to pick up a local station or two and set the small antenna in a window sill. The antenna looks like a bird with an 18" wingspan. Our house is on the side of a hill facing away from town so I was afraid that it would not pick up much. To our suprise, the TV locked onto to 9 HD channels and they all come in clear as a bell. We have Direct TV HD service at our other house and I can't tell much difference.

Yep, digital High Def over-the-air is pretty incredible stuff. We have cable service on the living room TV, but just broadcast on the bedroom set, and it looks great, even on an old CRT.......Jake
