"NEW YORK (Billboard) - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will play three shows at Giants Stadium in New Jersey this fall. The shows will take place September 30 and October 2 and 3. Tickets go on sale June 1; Giants Stadium is scheduled for demolition in 2010." WOW, I’m not a Giants fan or a big Springsteen fan, but that is one show I’d like to see. No doubt he will ROCK THE HOUSE with songs like Badlands, Thunder Road, and my favorite CRANK IT.

After seeing AC/DC the other week I've almost seen all the artists and bands I want to see in this lifetime. I've long since lost count of the number of concerts and gigs I've been to since I was 16 and went to my first concert... Gillan (Ian Gillan of Deep Purple) at the Ipswich Gaumont theatre, but as I carry on ticking off the last few on my list Springsteen, along with Bon Jovi, always manages to elude me. Maybe one day...

I have seen Springsteen exactly twice: once at The Brendan Byrne arena (also in the Meadowlands, but it was an indoor concert, unlike what will occur at Giants stadium) and once at Madison Square Garden (where I bought a scalped ticket).
-- BB (whose introduction to Ian Gillan was actually with the recording of "Jesus Christ Superstar")

I have seen him once in the late seventies (before his Born In The USA days) It was a July concert that he canceled and made up in August. It was a memorable concert just by the fact his set was 2 1/2 hours long and then came back and did a 1 1/2 hour encore.

I have seen Springsteen exactly twice: once at The Brendan Byrne arena (also in the Meadowlands, but it was an indoor concert, unlike what will occur at Giants stadium) and once at Madison Square Garden (where I bought a scalped ticket). -- BB (whose introduction to Ian Gillan was actually with the recording of "Jesus Christ Superstar") I first saw Gillan, as I posted, when I was 16, and went back to see him the following year. My friend and I got to the venue early, as we had got in the habit of doing whenever we went to gigs after that first concert, to catch the band getting off the tour bus and get autographs. Most were happy to see us and sign for us. But not our Mr Gillan... The bus pulled up, the band got off, and we waited for them to walk past us. As they did we asked for their autographs, at which point Gillan's minders grabbed us and threw us into the street. My friend was luckier than me and kept his balance... I ended up flat on my face on the wet tarmac. Then, unbelievably, he started signing autographs for a bunch of kids that had been hanging around. The band went through the stage door and we debated what to do. We were seething and now of course didn't want to go to the concert. Then the keyboard player, Colin Towns, came out and walked towards us. The next thing we knew he was apologizing to us for what had happened and telling us what a wanker Gillan is!! Then he took us to a nearby pub and bought us beers, telling us how life on road with Gillan was unbearable and at the end of this tour he was going to leave the band. And sure enough he did. So, feeling a little calmer, we went to the concert and got ourselves into the crowd standing right in front of the stage. For the next couple of hours we mouthed obscenities at Gillan, in particular 'You fat bastard!!' (in our opinion he was fat) whenever he looked in our direction. He was clearly puzzled, and at one point even pointed us out to one of the guitarists after he had stumbled over a verse in one of the songs because he was so busy looking at us. I was a huge Gillan fan until that night. To this day I still dislike him with a passion. Simon

If anyone, after reading the post above, feels the need to verbally abuse Ian Gillan in support of my lifelong vendetta against him, the fat bastard can be contacted here caramba@octafish.net

Isn't that taking revenge a little bit TOO far? C'mon, he's only human.
