I'm off to pick up our daughter from school in the morning. She completes her freshman year after her last final exam early tomorrow. She wants to celebrate by spending the day in Burlington Vermont, I'll try and get a few pictures. I'm looking forward to spending the next couple of days with her, Geri has to work.
She also tells me she has lots of stuff to bring home, this might be interesting.

Liz -- We'll definitely get together sometime, we'd love it, and Burlington is such a great town. As it turned out the weather this weekend was so bad we decided just to pack up and come home. I'm very disappointed because I was looking forward to a nice spring day venturing around the town. I packed the van so my daughter could say good bye to her college friends. Did you know that 19 year old girls can take several hours saying good bye? ;D ;D ;D Yes it's true, even if they plan on visiting each other through out the summer. ;D

Gary
My daughter is planning on moving apartments later this summer, care to join? I hear the weather in DC in August is "refreshing"

I drove 575 miles round trip on Thursday. The weather was rainy with high winds up to 50 m.p.h. but at least it was temperate.
There's a ferry service which runs from Vermont and New York (across Lake Champlain) at 3 different landing points. One is open all year and the other 2 are closed for winter. I have to tell you guys, it's absolutely beautiful scenery. The lake seems daunting with it's large waves, expanse and the mountains make an impressive background. Vermont is soooo laid back and easy going yet it has a cosmopolitan feel, being rich in history and culture.
(I have pictures of Burlington somewhere)
Here, down state, the Hudson River is 1 mile wide, stays calm and seems like a bathtub in comparison.
Gordon, are you going to make that trip again? Are rents dropping that much she's going to move? We have that issue here. Vacancies everywhere.

Are rents dropping that much she's going to move? We have that issue here. Vacancies everywhere. Yes and her roommate are! Rents are dropping, and they found a place that is 1/2 block from a Metro stop (any 2 stops closer to town) for $50 apiece more per month than they are now, where they have to drive 3 miles or take a 30 minute bus trip. Definitely cheaper when you factor in the parking, or 20 hours a month on a DC bus. Plus, there are all sorts of 20 something evening places within a couple blocks. Compelling reasons for a 22 year old.
