Spring has finally arrived and I couldn't be happier. Enough of the cold! Here's a few pictures, I'm trying to decipher what to plant and how safely I can get them away from the deer.

I put these tomatoes up high, hopefully the deer can't reach. Big Boy's and Early Girls. Notice the crows nest at 12 o'clock in the picture.

My gardening tribute to the real estate boom. This quaint home was listed at $595,000 in 2005 as a starter house for the young professional couple needing city access. It has 2 bedrooms (small but nice) and 2 full baths. Unfortunately (or fortunately) it never sold and through neglect had roof leaks and severe flooring issues so I salvaged it as best I could. This idea and photo is courtesy of 3 pints of Guinness.

This is looking east and just over that hill and 4 miles away is the Hudson River. This is a nice time of year because you can look across the river into Upper Westchester. Another few weeks and the foilage will block the view.

I have put down a whole section of new sod this spring and I am constantly having to watch it for the least little sign of distress. Such is the problematic ways of life for a Floridian

... at least the mosquitoes arent out yet The hell you say!!!!!!!!!!! My legs and ankles have several mosquito bites on them, along with fire ant bites. It's almost summer in the south my friend. I saw two moccasins swimming across my pond yesterday so that means the pond water has warmed up enough for them to come out and swim. Time to get out my 12 gage snake gun. We also have several Canadian Geese couples who are nesting on the pond's islands and peninsula. At any time we may have up to 75 geese around our pond during the summer.

Lucky? I don't know -- It's very frustrating when one minute I'm having a couple of beers and running happily through the lawn sprinkler when suddenly it's 48 degrees again. The weather's a tease.

Believe it or not the weather guessers said the humidity was going to be nearly 100% today in central Alabama with a high of 85 degrees, which means the 85 degrees will feel like 90+ degrees.
By next month we'll have 90+ degree days with nearly 100% humidity pushing the heat index to over 100 degrees. I have seen the heat index reach 113 degrees.

I have played golf in Phoenix in July when it was 112 degrees. But I found it to be a very dry heat. When I would occasionally hit a less than adequate shot it was quite easy to to shout out a hardy "fuck me" without any lasting damage to my lungs or lips. And I can assure you I was speaking and not mouthing the words.

I want to create some Hosta gardens outside of my fence but the deer will eat them like desert. I need to create some woodland gardens with some plants the deer prefer not to eat. Of course in a drought hungry deer will eat anything.

Is that the same as transtesticle? Only if that means my testicles drove away in a trans am, which *is* entirely possible! Zilla (I just consider myself "gender unspecific")
