All right football fans, the best 0-15 team ever fielded in NFL history gets down to it TODAY. History could be in the making on the tundra of Lambeau field in Green Bay.
(who in the FUCK make the NFL schedule? a home game in Green Bay on Dec 28?? while the comfy indoor facility in Detroit goes unused. Detroit was home to play GB back on Sept 14, an indoor game in Sept and an outdoor game in late December... IDIOTS!)
Like an errant Culpepper pass I have gotten away from my point... CAN THE LIONS DO IT?? to be the first 0-16 team in NFL history. At this point you have to root for them to go for it. God knows they are capable and the fans have earned it.
In ANY OTHER year, Detroit fans would have been calling for the Lions to simply bring in the U of Michigan team by now. Any of the past 40 years of Wolverine teams would have made a better showing on the field than this year's Lions, but NOOOOOO, this year even that option is out the door (maybe we can coax the U of Toledo team to suit up, or Ball State perhaps).
I get the sense however, that fate may be working against the Lions from even gaining this one miserable point this year... the weather overnight in GB has been poor, game time wont be cold, so much as wet and miserable. Factor in these conditions, plus a GB team that in any other year would be in last place, Detroit stands a chance of actually winning this game and turn a notorious season and a permanent place in the record books, into simply a miserable season.
GO GREEN BAY
Unfortunately, the Lions dont stand a chance of looking much better next year. Discounting the team's disgusting ability to grab crap from even the best draft pick position, name a top prospect who would not chew off their own leg to avoid signing with Detroit. At best they can trade their number one pick away, but with the negotiating skills of the Detroit front office, they would trade it for Brett Farve and a 13th, 18th, and 19th round draft pick in 2011.
Grab the beer and munchies it could be an "exciting" afternoon

Just think all the heart breaks of the regular season end today and the playoffs the good football start next week.
Every team has it bad few years or in Detroit's case decades but WTF it has to happen to someone.
Right know I am pulling for the Titians to win the whole thing. Jeff Fisher deserves a championship.

Im telling you, this season for Detroit lays perfectly into their long term plan to be in the contention for Superbowls with numbers starting with the letter "L". Its been decades in the making and we are seeing the payoffs (NOT playoffs) starting this year. The plan is called "Flush the Toilet and See What Backs Up"

AHHHHHHH.... the sweet stench of perfection. Detroit proved that its possible for one of the NFL's oldest franchises to remake itself into an expansion team, WAY TO GO.
Green Bay jumped out to an early lead, but then started to give Detroit a whole freight train load of gifts, and going into the last quarter, the score was all tied up. But showing how a great team at folding under pressure does it, Detroit gave GB 17 points in the final quarter.
Knowing how the Detroit management thinks, I am pretty sure how they will work for their first round draft pick. They NEED someone who can hold onto the ball when they have to, and someone they can go to just about every play... YES... look for Detroit to use their first round pick to get themselves the BEST DAMN CENTER graduating this year. You cant build an offense unless you have someone that can get the ball to the quarterback... theyll worry about that position next year.
GO LIONS mew

Another big choker today was the Dallas Cowboys. Blown out in Philly 44-6. All that those clowns had to do was win and they made the playoffs.

Next goal for Detroit will have to be Tampas 1976-77 22 game losing streak. Detroit lost the last game of 07 so they currently stand at 17 games. Had Detroit NOT beaten the KC Chiefs in week 16 of last year they would be at 24 already. As it stands, the Lions have lost 23 of their last 24 and 17 in a row.

The Lions fire Marinelli today as was to be expected. I wounder why they waited to today and just didn't fire his ass yesterday right after the game.
I wounder who the Lions will hire next, if they can get any takers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hell I'll take the job for 1/4 of what the average salary of an NFL head coach. Look at the money the would save. I would also make them a guarantee that I wouldn't do any worse than they guy before me.....................Hey what more could they want? They save millions and can't get any worse.
Also i been watch the news to see if that asshole Jerry Jones in Dallas fire himself today. All the problems they have are his doing by trying to buy an NFL championship instead of earning one. I know he said last week the Wade Phillips was his coach no matter what, but if I was Phillips I wouldn't by signing any long term leases on any property any time soon.
Also Crennel in Cleveland and Mangini of the Jets got the boot today. I think Crennel got screwed by the Browns. Major injuries to what few top players he had and very little talent to work with.
Magini deserved what he got. He should have keep Pennington and used Farve as a back up. Farve is done, washed up, old and now the Jets have no QB worth a shit. Maybe the can get Broadway Joe to come out of retirement next year.

WELL, the Lions are already 2 wins up on their record from last season, and we havnt even left the preseason yet. I predict a .500 season, which if it happens, could net Jim Schwartz a Coach of the Year Award
