Abe Vigoda (he's got to kick off sooner or later) I went with the anti-Abe Vigoda choice by picking Hal Linden instead.

If anybody is looking for additions or ch-ch-changes.
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A court document filed by Peter Falk's daughter says the Emmy-winning actor is suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
Catherine Falk is seeking a court's approval for a conservatorship of her 81-year-old father, who she claims no longer recognizes people. The petition filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court states Falk lives in Beverly Hills with his wife and recently had hip surgery and requires constant care.

Columbo with Alzheimer's is a show I'd love to watch ‘I worry. I mean, little things bother me. I’m a worrier. I mean, little insignificant details - I lose my appetite. I can’t eat. My wife, she says to me... shit, now what is it she says?'Simon

Columbo with Alzheimer's is a show I'd love to watch. That's pretty much redundant! While Alzheimer's is generally a death sentence, it is usually a slow one. Remember how long Reagan and Heston hung on. On the other hand, James Doohan went pretty quick. Overall, might be best to save Falk for 2010.

Also, are we not going with the same scoring method from last year?

Also, are we not going with the same scoring method from last year? Bif's right. I did post that for the 2008 game, so I guess we'll have to calculate the tie-breaker scores once the year officially ends. Might as well use the same system for 2009......Jake P.S. - don't forget to post your list!! Time's running out!

Is there no minimal level of fame to be included in the list? Maybe a rule clarification is in order. How 'bout at least ONE other person has to verify famousness WITHOUT resorting to google. It'll be on the honor system (what could possibly go wrong?) And anyone can make a challenge to the list(s). And another thing... I think Bonus Points should be awarded if a stiff dies a particularly fitting death. Like, say Henry Heimlich chokes to death. I mean, that has to be worth something! edited to add: When I googled Heimlich to double check his first name, google images displayed a drawing of a man "Heimliching" his German Shepherd. Maybe I should adjust my filters...

Well, Susan Atkins was in the news a lot during the Manson era, and was in the news, due to her health issues, a lot this year. I think she qualifies. She's at least as famous as Moqtada al sadr. But you did put your finger on a serious Dead Pool issue: the subjectiveness of fame. I don't have a good answer for that question. As far as I know, nobody does.

I think it would be interesting if you were not allowed to put a name on the list two years in succession. Im thinking of someone like Fidel, you know the guy's going to go one of these years. Rather than just putting him on the list year after year, you would have to factor whether you REALLY think it will be this year, or is next year more likely? Because if you listed him for 09 then you couldnt in 10.
Just a thought for future consideration.

OK, here is my list.
Fidel Castro Yitzhak Shamir Eli Wallach Karl Malden Claude Levi-Strauss Dino De Laurentiis Louis Farrakhan Jake LaMotta ZsaZsa Gabor Betty Ford
I took all of my 2008 people off and tried new ones except Fidel. He can't last much longer. Of course I will be unhappy when the people on my previous list start kicking off.
