It's time, once again, everyone. Since we had so much participation in the 2008 Dead Pool (which is close to declaring a winner), let's do it again!
Feel free to post "brainstorm" lists of potentials, but only if you are willing to share your ideas. Personally, I'm willing to share, since there is no real prize at stake. The better everyone does, the better we can ALL feel about it!
When we get close to the end of the year, post your official list of ten names. That's all it takes to enter.
I'll lock this thread when the new year begins, so nobody will be tempted to edit their list past the deadline. Like 2008, we can have a separate thread for discussing progress and how everyone's lists are doing.
By the by, I've locked the equivalent thread from last year, so nobody accidentally posts their thoughts in the wrong place.
Good luck everyone!......Jake

2009 has to be Amy Winehouse's year. I thought she was a cert for 2008, and she still has time yet, but I'm sure if she manages to stagger into 2009 she's not going to let us down this time.

Im holding my list close, but still checking the supermarket tabloids, when Im in line, for late considerations... I will be dropping Brittany Spears, but may replace her with her younger sister.

BTW- I will take on the task of compiling the list as I did last year... gives me something productive to do while the estrogen based family units log hours on the hi-def, watching whatever New Years Parade suits them.

I figure if Im going to do one thing useful here each year, I might as well do it New Years Day, and get it out of the way.

In that case, lucky for you I'll be on vacation at Hedo then and unavailable to distribute a much deserved yellow card (although it should be a red card, since you're intentionally doing something useful while I'm away).

Dont let me stop you from using valuable beach time to come visit us here to monitor the situation. We'd love to have you here. Something tells me that I'm going to have to invest in more yellow ink for the card printer in 2009. Keeping some extra red ink around might not be a bad idea either, come to think of it. === Edited to include Gordon's post as a quote so as not to make Jake any more confused than he already is.

Well I have no idea what this yellow ink/red ink nonsense is, but you just run along and have fun, junior.

It was in relation to the on-going joke that Gordon and I have regarding the sports-related issuing of Yellow cards and red cards -- you and I clearly cross-posted, as you could see if you bothered to look at our respective time stamps (I was responding to his post). I'll edit my previous post to reflect that so as not to confuse you even further in this senior moment you seem to be having.

Unless I missed someone, here are the current non-zero scores:
HedoDiva.............2 Hilary...................2 Bif........................2 Chicago Jake.......2 Cherbunny..........1 Denise.................1 Hank....................1 Bornagaindruid....1 Tex.......................1
Since the 08 list looks like it could end up to be a four way tie. Ya think the 09 list should have a point system. Like the higher the age the less points?

Simon She was on my 08 list and I'm going to keep her there for 09. (iffin she makes it) I agree she is not going to let us down in 09 and iffin the powers to be have a point system for 09, she will bring oodles of points.

That's a decent idea. But I have no problem with a tie, especially since there are no prizes to split up, just bragging rights. Four winners is better than just one!

Obama is already on record saying he favors a football playoff in lieu of the BCS to determine a single champion. I am afraid of what he will say when he finds out that you are willing to sanction multiple winners for the Dead Pool Contest.

Very true Gordon, but personally speaking I do have one or two 'off-board' friends. However, I actually quite like them and would like to keep them, so introducing them to the board would be a non-starter.
