We see left over huricane weather here in central Arkansas almost every year. But this year is a first....Ike will be the second time we've had the eye or the dirty side of the storm hit us....weird.... Keepin up with the weather and hope you guys in Texas are fairing well. On the funny side: When Gustav came through I had an all nighter- not at a party but work. Halling in dry ice, unloading cases....16 hours without power really mucks up a grocery store...not to mention the neighborhood had no power. In fact, the last of the power was turned on this last Sunday. So yesterday all these nervous customers are shopping rheir ass off....because a storm is coming.....just like Gustav......WHY ARE YOU SHOPPING FOR FULL BUGGIES WHEN YOU WILL LOOSE IT ALL? I'm not talking rations....I'm talking frozen, dairy, meat... I'm flumuxed....

We haven't bought a damn thing in the way of groceries. If the water gets bad, boil it or drink beer or get into the bar and drink up all of the mixers. If the fridge goes off, we will cook whatever would go bad first. BTW, refrigerators are pretty well insulated and if the idiots would keep the fucking door shut, it will keep the food cold for a couple of days anyway.

The remains of Gustav actually made it all the way up to my place a couple weeks back. The track for Ike has it going through lower Michigan on Monday, it will be interesting to see if we get any remnants.

The remnants of Gustav soaked Chicago for a couple of days. No winds beyond what we normally get, but lots of drizzle.

Man I am glad we don't live in the areas that get nailed by hurricanes. We get earthquake but they are every 30 years or better not every 3 days apart.

Well, Ike is here today. He's not too boisterous, but things are definitely wet.

Funny how Gustav slid in and damned near caused a major catastrophy and the whole time no one was worried....and here comes Ike and everyone is acting like a three legged cat in a full litter box and other than some rain and wind....nada! Now there is some power out but nothing like Gustav.

It didn't make sense to me either!
