Anyone here see this show yet? We've caught a few. I find it really wild that a prime time show would feature this theme.
From the site:
Being from the era I'm enjoying the music, fashion and references, but the writing seems a bit too 'soap opera' to me.

Denice and I have been watching it and we think it's a pretty good show. It would be even better if it had been on HBO or Showtime. It would give them a lot more room to run with this theme.
I hope they continue it on their scheduling someplace after this summer run.

I'm surprised that they are showing it on a public network. I think it could get better as the characters develop.

Under it's current format I don't see why it can't see any reason why it wouldn't be shown on public TV. It has less sexual innuendos than Two and Half Men does.

I'll keep my fingers crossed this gets picked up by a UK network or satellite station.

Simon, check the CBS web site. You may be able to watch it with your computer from their site at no charge. All you would have to do is hook your PC to your TV. (you knew that) Might not have to wait to see it.
Joe.

Thanks Joe. I checked it out and it links to the iTunes store where they can be downloaded, for a price of course, so I may just do that.

Lee and I have been watching it. We have it set to record and it's been a nice to have a show to watch over the summer. We like it alot. We could do without the daughter's bit with her teacher, but even her character is fitting with the era of the movie. I think we like listening to all the tunes the best.
I agree, had it been on HBO, there would be even more depth to what all is happening to the characters. Heck, if it was on just a different cable station rather than the normal channels, I bet we would see more skin. Anyone ever watch Saving Grace?? I've seen more of Holly Hunter than I ever expected to see.

It would do the show justice if it were shown on Showtime, or HBO, however it's one of the best shows on tv and I miss it.

It was on Fridays, but it's on hiatus and I have no idea when (or if) it's coming back. It's a great show.

Showtime or HBO would have really done it justice by opening up the subject of the show. We ahope that it does come back some place on CBS but I have a funny feeling that it not. Joe.

Oh, when I think of how great a show with that topic could be if it were on cable. I think it's pretty hot on regular tv but......

I don't think it's coming back. All the good shows end up in TV heaven. (or hell)

It's not even on CBS list of shows any more. All the ones I like get shit canned and the rest of the crap stays on the air

I suppose the topic was too hot to handle for some. People are not living in the real world.

The "Moral Majority" strikes again: Cheering the 'Swingtown' Axe By Roger Catlin on January 15, 2009 8:57 PM The Parents Television Council is dancing on the grave of the series "Swingtown," which CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler said was dead this week. She tried to soften the blow a bit in her session at press tour this week, saying, "one thing that we're really proud of is the execution of 'Swingtown.' It was a terrific show and, look, I'm happy to report it ended up on over a half dozen Top Ten lists from 2008. So at the end of the day, I think the show was well-executed. It was well-received. The performances were great. The writing was great." So why is it not coming back? Tassler said the show "was also a victim of the strike, but it was a risk, and we took it, and we're proud of it and certainly would take it again." Tim Winter, president of the watchdog group issued a statement that said "the PTC applauds and celebrates the removal of 'Swingtown' from the public airwaves" and suggested its removal had nothing to do with the riters strike but "everything to do with the program's lack of sponsors." The group took credit for urging advertisers to remove their business. Source

The world that exists where people are swinging. Sorry Di, thats a perfect example of the disconnect in different peoples thought processes. My post was a self-deprecating comment on the highlighted text of Joes post, that "People are not living in the real world"... countered by my post count. The irony, being a claimed ignorance of the meaning of the text versus the amount of time that my post count implies that I spend here.
