I admit - I went to this one, kicking and screaming, not being a big Abba fan (well we aren't talking Meat Loaf here, after all)
However, what a dumb ass I am for putting this one off. Fantastic fun play, and I have been listening to the cd in my car ever since.
Go see this one ! I will most definately see it again..

I'd be reluctant also but sometimes you have to force yourself to try different venues, plays, movies...etc...
Now I'll put it on my list to see.

I heard the movie is coming out this summer, for those who can't get to see the play.

Yup, movie is coming out - I saw at National Theatre in DC a few years ago. Liked ABBA - thought the play was very clever and REALLY enjoyed it. I hope the movie will be good.
Gary, the plot is basically that a young girl is getting married and her mother invites 3 old flames as she doesn't know which one is the Dad. It's actually pretty funny. When I told Randy though he said he'd pass. You're lucky, you can see it in NYC! The National Theatre is great but it's not a large stage. Happily enough though it is located within walking distance of my new job (which isn't as new anymore - will be there a year on the 16th of July) and I haven't taken advantage of this at all - will have to remedy that soon. The Warner Theatre is too. Woo HOO!

Colleen Actually the girl is the one that invites the three men she read about in her mother's diary, without her mother knowing - thinking she will know her father when she sees him.

I saw it in London (with Mr & Mrs Waterdweller, in fact!) and we three just danced out of the show like fools. Great fun! I'm not an Abba fan, but I'm still excited to see the movie this summer....Pierce Brosnan AND Colin Firth in the same movie. I'm breathless already.

Thanks for the correction - it's been a number of years since I saw it at the National Theatre and I was sick to boot but wasn't going to not go after paying to see it and my girlfriend REALLY wanted to see it and I didn't want to let her down - at least I was close!! I do remember it was a lot of fun and that I really did enjoy it - I bought Abba's Greatest Hits after that and listened to "Mama Mia" on the way to work a lot right after seeing it.

The movie is coming out very soon and I can't wait to see it. Meryl Streep (my favorite) should be amazing in the role of the mother. I saw the show 5 years ago for my 50th birthday and the end was spectacular!!!!!
