Very cool. That was such a powerful production. Any idea who the leads are?

I saw it two weeks before it closed with my mom, my girlfirend (Minna) and her mom. It was wonderful. So glad it's coming back for a little while.

Actually, I'm really looking forward to seeing the new musical opening soon based on the Anne Rice character, the Vampire Lestat. I have already asked Jake if he'd see it with me and he said Yes. I doubt he'd fall asleep during this show, especially with music by Elton John.

I saw it in NYC many years ago. I slept through the middle three hours of it......Jake I slept through Les Mis not once, but twice!! All that caterwauling, and darkness -- puts me out like a light. I read the (unabridged) book twice prior (after stumbling upon a Channel 13 production years and years ago - was very intrigued with the story). I also slept through Cats. I liked "Tommy" (the Who) but it shut faster than a velvet rope when BukkakeBoy is next on line. I am a huge fan of "Wicked" (the book) but am loathe to see the show -- afraid that it will mar my wonderful estimation of the book. Let's not even talk about "Spam-alot" -- I really want to see it, but hold Monty Python in such high regard, I am afraid that it may assault my fond fond memories. I guess I am a purist: the book is ALWAYS better than the movie, and way way better then Broadway's abridged version. And II or III of any movie will be two-times or three-times as bad as the first.

It most certainly will assault your fond memories. Isn't that what Monty Python is best at. All Python fans must be forewarned that this is not a nostalgic production. It is something new and different that makes fun of something old and familiar. But if you aren't too much of a fuddy duddy, yet, you just may like it for the same reasons you enjoyed the original. I saw Les Miserables in Memphis at the Orpheum Theatre one January many years ago. I was sitting on the third tier in the last row with my head scraping the ceiling. The heat was working overtime keeping those fortunate enough to have orchestra seats toasty warm. I turned to my wife with sweat dripping into my eyes and reminded her that Les Miserable translated to " The Miserables " and I was.
Maybe I need to give it another try with better seats. On the other hand Sir Spamalot seems like the kind of production where I could get by without wearing a suit and tie...much more my speed.
