What do you think is the best of the Star Trek TV series? Many people will tell you that "TOS" (The Original Series) with Kirk, Spock, etc., is far and away the best Star Trek series. Well, I disagree. I think thst "Deep Space Nine" (DS9) is the best ever. It is the darkest, deepest, and most thought-provoking of the Star Trek series. What say YOU?.....Jake

The Next Generation was by far the best. The acting was fantastic and the 7 major actor just worked well together. Just my humble opinion.

While not a huge fan of the original Star Trek series (William Shatner ... EEEWWW, who said he could act?) I admit I have enjoyed the movies it spawned.
But if I have to sit down and watch a series on TV it would have to be either DS9 or The Next Generation. I think I liked them equally, but never got into more than just the first couple of seasons on either. Y'know, life gets in the way of watching too much TV.
I couldn't stand the series with Kate Mulgrew in it (was that Voyager?) Her voice is like chalk on a blackboard to me. <shudder>

You are right about Voyager; it sucked! Kate Mulgrew's finest hour was when she played Lt. Columbo's wife.....Jake

Here is my rating of the 5 Star Trek Series.
1. The Next Generation 2. Deep Space Nine 3. Star Trek 4. Enterprise 5. Voyager.
Here's how I rate the Captains
1. Patrick Stewart- Jean-Luc Picard 2. Avery Brooks- Benjamin Sisko 3. William Shatner- James T. Kirk 4. Scott Backula- Jonathan Archer 5. Kate Mulgrew- Kathryn Janeway
Last question.
Who's hotter Jolene Blalock or Jerri Ryan?
Really miss TNG and DS9. I know they have reruns all the time but.

I'd have to say Jeri Ryan was the hotter of the two. Assimilate this, baby!
Interesting that out of five Captains, two of them were bald! You'd think that if they can build a faster-than-light starship, they could cure baldness! But maybe it was just a fashion statement.
I do like Jonathon Archer's sarcastic streak. Seems like every episode, someone will ask him a question like "is everything okay down there?", and he'll get a pained look on his face and say "not exactly."

Yeah the build faster tha light ships, mechanical hearts, artificial spines but you can still go bald in the 24th century and they can do nothing about it. Joe.

I was addicted to the Original series, so never even watched TNG until it was about to go off the air. I got hooked on it and liked it even bettter than the original series.

I grew up on the original Star Trek series and when TNG was launched I refused to watch it on the grounds it could never be as good. After 2 or 3 seasons I happened to catch an episode and was instantly hooked. I tried hard to share the same passion for DS9 but it never lived up to my own expections. Voyager took a while to develop, but once it had done I thought it was a great show and I was sorry to see it finish. As for Enterprise, I loved the concept of going back 'pre-Kirk' and I REALLY wanted to like it, I watched the first few episodes and tried to give it the benefit of the doubt but I just found it a real disappointment.
I also prefer Jeri Ryan to Jolene Blalock, but the gorgeous Marina Sirtis has to be worth a mention too ;D

Thankfully they must have changed their minds when they saw the pictures ;D ;D They let her reprise her role as Tasha Yar in Yesterday's Enterprise, which also happens to be my favorite episode, and she also came back to play her own daughter Romulan Commander Sela in a couple of episodes.

A quick Google search shows you're correct. Denise Crosby did her Playboy set in 1979, long before TNG, and left the show to pursue a movie career.

Indeed. Sadly I missed the opportunity for some well placed irony there. I think she also played a supporting role in "Deep Impact"...I also seem to remember her in several other bit parts...she has not "aged gracefully..." I don't know it anybody here is a fan of the books, but for you TOS fans out there, a "Where are they now" for a couple of the characters, Supposedly, after Yeoman Rand (the blonde with the Marge Simpson haircut) and Nurse Chappel (now Doctor Chappel) are aboard the Excelisor (Sulu's ship) and are now "a couple".... not that there's anything wrong with that....and Chekov is the First Officer.

OK, just getting started in here. So here I go for my first real post....
Best ST series.. no doubt DS9
If you hated Shatners acting, try listening to some of his CD's
Kate Muldrew- Didnt mind her that much, she sounded a lot like Kat Hepburn, who reminded me of my grandmother, OK lets no go further down THAT road.
Jeri Ryan- DROOL
Male pattern baldness- results from the heat generated from having to think so hard in the 24th century, it should grow back when they retire.
Next Question- Was there any ST character that was easier to HATE than Welsley Crusher, good gawd if his uniform had had pockets he would have had a pocket protector in it. GEEK!

Star Trek: Enterprise is being canceled. The last episode will are May 13 UPN announced today.

My understanding is that the end of Enterprise has been planned for quite some time. UPN wanted to end it after last season, due to low ratings. But Paramount (which produces the show and owns the rights) made a deal where UPN would help subsidize the production costs and air the show, and Paramount would produce it at a loss. But this way they have four seasons in the can and can sell it in perpetuity in syndication......Jake

Haven't heard that. The only thing I heard recently is that view percentage is up and that was good for the show.
I just seen on Yahoo last night that it had been shit canned.

I think the biggest problem the show had was that it tried to be too 'dark', all the time. The other shows in the franchise had drama, but frequently interspersed the tension with some comedy, usually in the form of 'gotchas' between characters. Lack of character development and last year's season long storyline, didnt help either.

Have to agree with Gordon. Last years season long story line got a little boring at time. It was the same shit week after week.
This should be the end of Star Trek on TV for some time to come. Maybe they will just come up with something for the movies.

Berman says he plans to let it "lie fallow" for at least three years, but then they'll be back. USA Today interview today. Gotta admit, even though I liked the show, it was a chore to remember to watch it every week. Just not very exciting....Jake

They need to give it a break. It has been almost 20 years of one Star Trek Show or another on the TV. Wait 3 years then watch out, the views will go nuts for a new Star Trek series.

I know Thread Creep is revered on this board, so I figured The Resurrection was preached here too.
Just this weekend I hung some shelves to help hold Star Trek artifacts in the Holiest of Holies room of our home.
Being a Trekkie before having to convert to the more politically-correct Trekker, the original series stills reigns on the top of my pile. In my universe, these people are real.
Each of their movies was a must see on opening night. The Wrath of Khan remains secure in my top 5 movies, crying as Spock spoke his final works to Kirk.
Know many people that have attended a Star Trek convention? You do now. Because of this experience I know what I am talking about when it is said the original series remains as the best.
