Didn't want to leave you guys out..........JO Fawlty Towers, starring Monty Python's John Cleese, is still being repeated on some of the 'TV Gold' channels and is as funny as ever. Doctor in the House, Man about the House... wow, those are real blasts from the past!! I haven't seen them for many years. And yes we do make great crime dramas such as Cracker and Prime Suspect, to name but a couple. Simon

......as proud a Canuck as I am, I bow down to your superior American TV shows....... Yikes!! Considering some of the dreck they produce here in the USofA, that's saying a lot! Of course, our good stuff is really good, but our average is mighty damn low......Jake P.S. - looooove Fawlty Towers. Sometimes I think it was the model for Seinfeld, the way all the separate threads always converge at the end

Dr. Who was my favorite old Brit show. (Sorry to steal the Canadian TV thread and replace it with Brit TV!!) And Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
My dad was a huge fan of Benny Hill....which drove my mother bonkers. We thought Benny Hill was hilarious and risque....of course we were just little kids.

I remember Benny Hill and that little old man who kept getting hit on the head by Benny. I also remember my brothers just hoping for a peek at some boobies sometime during the show. Speaking of British boobies, anyone remember a mini-series in the mid 70's called Casanova. Again, I remember my brothers and my male friends sitting through this not-very-good show just hoping for a glimpse of boobie. Come to think of it, I think that's why we watched most of the British comedies at that time, always that tantalizing possibility of nekkid bosums!
Liz, don't worry about stealing the Canadian TV thread, if anyone has ever watched our home-grown shows, you want to scratch out your eyes with a sharp object!! Tommy Hunter, anyone??

P.S. - looooove Fawlty Towers. Sometimes I think it was the model for Seinfeld, the way all the separate threads always converge at the end The threads converge and Basil always seems to get his comeuppance... whether he deserves it or not!! The show was actually inspired by the Python team's experience in a real hotel : Source www.fawltysite.netSimon

The boobies count on British TV has always been high and I consider it one of the great advantages of having been brought up here ;D Simon

yeah, I remember the Friendly Giant telling us to look "up, waaaayyyyy up". and I think he was wearing those skirt-like thingies that giants like to wear. Maybe he was a little TOO friendly, if you know what I mean!
Brian, unfortunately, I remember all those shows and I'm scarred for life as a result.(remember the Wayne & Shuster skit "...........and I told him, Julie don't go!") JO
