XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUN JAN 14, 2007 18:17:05 ET XXXXX
IS FOX SET TO BLOW THE NUKES ON '24'? Sun Jan 14 2007 18:14:34 ET
As Washington continues to raise concerns about terror threats on The Homeland -- a recent CIA report outlined a scenerio of possible "series of explosions using 'low charge' nuclear weapons" -- Hollywood and FOX-TV are set to up the ante with the new season of 24!
Few outside of the 24 set know the exact details of the new season unfolding, but studio sources claim producers are pushing hard to take it radioactive this time -- and keep it there.
"Time to wake the country up!" a top FOX source told the DRUDGE REPORT over the weekend. "I do not think there has ever been TV done like this, the viewer is going to be completely riveted."
The source claims executives are prepared for any fallout from local municipalities that may be on the receiving end of plot turns and twists. How many cities 24 puts on 'nuke alert' is unclear.
FOX has set a highly-controversial espisode of 24 to air Monday night, opposite NBC's GOLDEN GLOBES.
In 2002, White House officials questioned the timing and release of PARAMOUNT's action movie SUM OF ALL FEARS -- a movie which depicts a nuclear bomb unleashed on an American sporting event!
One senior Bush official, who spoke to the DRUDGE REPORT at the time, claimed the movie crossed over the line of civic responsibility and commerce.
Developing... ===========================================
After watching the two-hour premier, I would say Fox is pushing the envelope on this one!!
HOLY SHIT, Batman!!

OK . . . the writers have really PISSED ME OFF!!!
I mean, I heard that a major character was going to die, but did it have to be who it was, in the manner it happened?? DAMN, I liked that person (trying not to ruin it for Simon!)
HOLY SHIT!!!
I gotta say, they have certainly kicked it up a notch!!

Hit US television show '24' under fire from Muslim group Jan 19 9:53 AM US/Eastern Hit US television show "24" came under fire from a Muslim group, which accused the program's makers of fuelling anti-Muslim prejudice with its latest storyline. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said "24's" season premiere, in which Islamic terrorists detonated a nuclear bomb near Los Angeles, risked stoking racial hatred. The criticism was swiftly rejected by the show's network Fox Broadcasting, which said the series did not single out ethnic groups to be villains. "The raw emotional impact of fictional scenes that include widespread death and destruction in America may adversely affect the public's attitude toward civil liberties, religious freedom and interfaith relations," the CAIR statement said. "The program's repeated association of acts of terrorism with Islam will only serve to increase anti-Muslim prejudice in our society," it added. Representatives of the award-winning series responded by pointing out that during the show's five seasons villains have included Americans, Baltic Europeans, Germans, Russians, Islamic fundamentalists and the fictional president of the United States. "The producers are sensitive to the fact that over the course of the series no ethnic group be singled out for persecution or blame," a statement from Fox said. "In fact, the show has made a concerted effort to show ethnic, religious and political groups as multi-dimensional, and political issues are debated from multiple viewpoints." CAIR has raised similar concerns about "24" storylines in the past. In response to the complaint two years ago, Fox aired a public service announcement featuring "24's" star Kiefer Sutherland, urging viewers to avoid stereotyping Muslims. Link================================= I wish someone would point out to these idiots at CAIR that while most Muslims aren't terrorists, pretty much all major terrorists acts are committed by Muslims. Second, could someone let the fuckers know that 24 is FICTION? . . . you know, just in case they can't tell the difference between real life and fantasy. ..........Bob

The new season starts here at 9pm GMT (4pm EST). So for two hours tonight please nobody call me, send me emails, IMs, PMs, text messages, faxes, telexes, telegrams, smoke signals, boy scout runners bearing hand written parchments...

Sometimes I don't think people can separate fiction from real life. Isn't that some of the lines of defense that are given in court? "My son was only acting out what he saw on TV."

Sometimes I don't think people can separate fiction from real life. Isn't that some of the lines of defense that are given in court? "My son was only acting out what he saw on TV." True, but this is called Darwinism at it's best. Last night's show revealed that the writers are truly trying to fuck with our brains!! I suspect there are going to be MULTIPLE WTF? moments before this season is over!! ...........Bob (who is beginning to think that Jack is a super-secret triple agent who is ultimately going to blow the US of A to HELL! )

We only started watching this season. So last night when we met Jack's brother, it was not a mind bending incident...until my brother briefly filled me in before taking off for work & leaving me more confused. Anyone here wish to help me out & clarify what the hell Jack's brother was up to in the previous season?? Liz

Liz,
I was sitting here trying to remember all that Jack's brother was involved in. I remember lots of details, but my luck I'd confuse them all up! You should rent the last season from Blockbuster. It was a really good season.
here's what I sort of remember:
His brother was the mastermind that had control over the President. He was involved in the stealing of the nerve agent.
There's more to it. His brother was an intrical part of the big bad last season. Maybe there is something on the web??

Thanks!! I'm so confused! I'll ask my brother about it...and probably get more confused! In any event, it certainly is an exciting season! Liz

Mind you, no one knew it was Jack's brother until this last Monday! Based on the previews for next week JACK knew it was his brother! ;D ;D It looks like Jack's brother and their DAD are involved in some, well, bad doings. I'm telling you this thing is going to come full circle to involve Jack's family and Jack is going to get his pee-pee wacked!! Chloe will, of course, finally respond "Yes Jack, actually I *DO* want to suck your pee-pee!" Great GOD!! The plots just get thicker . . . ;D ;D ...............Bob

Here's another question for you previous season folks....Does Chloe ever smile or even ch-ch-change her facial impression? Her perpetual scowl is rather distracting from the plot line.

She showed tons of emotion when her co-worker died in front of her. It was a short lived ch-ch-change of facial expression. I know she has shown just a little bit from time to time, but in all the years, it's the scowl, your-a-pain-in-my-side so quite being an idiot look. It does tend to get old.

This is who Chloe is!! It's her Mantra!!
One of the best lines of the new season was when the head of CTU said, "Look at me!" and she responded, "I'd rather not, Sir!"
As much as Jack picks off the enemy, Chloe stacks the deck. We're just gonna have to wait!

I am in OZ for another week and a half, and last night they finally got around to showing the 2 hour season opener.
Looks like I'll be staying away from this thread until I get back home. Can't believe I have to wait for my fix until then, dammit!

Finally get back to the States, and because of good old jet lag, I was unable to sleep. So got myself caught up on what is going on in 24 land.
And Monday's episode is a 2 hour show. Be prepared, as Jack's dad is one bad dude.

24 is on here tonight. They've shown the first episodes two at a time here to catch up, so now for the first time ever the UK is seeing them only a week behind the US rather than a couple of months ;D ;D

It's so hard to want 24 to be on because it's on Monday nights which means that I have to wish the weekend to go by fast, yet dread that I have to go to work!!!! Tonight should be really good. I like 2 episodes in a row!
