Simon, what's the feeling from the UK? I've been keeping up with all the information on line, but what's the word in the street? Are people excited about the new show? Are there more hopes or more fears? BTW, this has been my favorite website yet. Jeremy

Jeremy There has been little said about Torchwood since the BBC announced that it was to be made, but they have just rolled out the publicity machine for the new series of Doctor Who, and the Christmas Special, so I expect Torchwood won't be far behind and people will start talking (though I dare say a lot has already been said in the online Doctor Who communities). The forums here www.digitalspy.co.uk are a good place to keep up with the average British viewer's thoughts, and some gossip. Personally I'll keep an open mind and hope it will be a success. Did you get to see series two yet? Overall I enjoyed it, though I thought there were a couple of dud storys, and I LOVED the Cyberman episodes and the season finale. I also really enjoyed David Tennant as the tenth Doctor, in fact I'd place him a very close second to my favourite Doctor, Tom Baker. Simon

Torchwood is to be a spin-off from the British sci-fi series Doctor Who.

I'm half way through the second series and waiting for the next DVD to arrive. The Cyberman episode is the next one that I haven't seen. I'm curious to see how the torchwood thing works out since they have also made it clear that the government sees the doctor as helpful, rather than dangerous. And of course, Jack didn't have anything negative to say about the doctor when they first met. Jeremy

Torchwood starts on Sunday night. It looks good in the previews that the BBC have been running for the past week. I'll let you know what I think.

Adding my 10 cents worth...
The new Dr Who series (both "new series") have to rate as some of the best sci-fi I have ever seen. The poms have really outdone themselves here!
Not to mention having running themes and conspiracies through the episodes (eg Bad Wolf and Torchwood) and tieing that in with all the established Dr Who History!
Did you realise that Torchwood is an anagram of Doctor Who?
Series 2 has just finished here and we are hoping that the "christmas episode" is here for christmas.
Roll on series 3 - and looking foward to Torchwood although there is no word on when we will get either down here!

Been too busy to visit for a while and now I'm trying to catch up...
So, Simon, how's Torchwood then?
And, Oz, Torchwood is not only an anagram of Doctor Who, it was actually used temporarily as the title of the new Dr. Who show. When production started, they didn't want word to leak out, so they called it Torchwood for a while.

They showed the first two episodes of Torchwood back to back and I didn't like it. It's like watching Doctor Who without the Doctor. Seems pointless to me so I haven't watched it since.

I guess I can see that. I thought Jack might be able to carry it, but perhaps not. I'm afraid that the same thing will happen to the Sarah Jane spin off.

I may not like Torchwood, but the good news on the Doctor Who front is that, according to my paper this morning, the Daleks are set to return in episodes 4 and 5 of the new series which is currently in production. Apparently the plot is that they time-travel to invade New York in the 1930's. Should be the highlight of the series!!

I just finished Torchwood season 1 on DVD and I really liked it. But then I have never seen Dr Who so that may be why I have a different opinion on the series. Very fast paced and each episode filmed like a short feature film in digital widescreen with interesting characters and stories. I don't know how I will like watching the Season 2 episodes I have taped on my DVR with commercials, but I will definitely check out Dr Who over the summer and catch up.
