has anyone seen this television event on Discovery HD? its really pretty amazing footage. I watched it with my son last night, and we started out to watch 1 hour, and ended up watching all 3. The amount of work that went into it seems to be overwhelming, and the detail is incredible.
From a snow leopard chasing a marquhor on a cliffside (stunning) to a great white shark leaping fully from the ocean in chase of a seal...the impact of this photography is overwhelming.
There are also some fantastic under sea shots, and amazing satellite photos as well. if you like nature shows at all. you will likely LOVE this series.

I've been watching it too.
Tonight they are doing Deserts and Ice Worlds.
I wonder if arctic deserts will be covered in the first or second show? I'm also looking forward to seeing the life-cycle of a saguaro flower, as it is only open for one day.

This show is really outstanding.
We thought that birds pollinate the saguaro. What a surprise to see the bats doing it in slow motion.
I'll have to make sure and stay awake late one night in May to see the flowers open and the bats do their thing.

I'll go search for the CDs. I can show you a couple of pics of the area during a storm..... Shot of the TV screen with the weather channel and storm conditions. I worked at BMEWS, which was 13 miles from Base. We had to pass by Shelter 7 and VORTAC to go to work. Storm clouds over North Star Bay. The building is the mess hall. Same storm above the MP Barracks. Fuel tanks in the background. I use to live in a building like this: A Thule sunset over North Star Bay: Thule Air Base aerial view out to North Star Bay. Back to your regularly scheduled programming....

Storm clouds over North Star Bay. The building is the mess hall. Same storm above the MP Barracks. Fuel tanks in the background. I think one picture may have shown them, but did you have any big mountains in the area?? The clouds appear very similar to Lenticular clouds that form around mountains where there is high wind and indicate conditions are ripe where I can fly my glider to thousands of feet!! ........Bob

There were very high winds during this storm, but there aren't any high mountains.

I found the CDs! Here is one of my favorite pics.... Thule in the summer. This is supposed to be the only place in the world where 3 active glaciers meet into a fjord.
