I've never seen a single episode of this show (not having HBO), but from the promotional material, it looks like I'd really enjoy it. Can you convince me to go rent it? Or spend the bucks to subscribe?......Jake

Dude it is a great show and i would definately recommend it especially if u like historically accurate movies or tv shows they really go to no lengths to show how ancient rome really was which i think is great.

Great show Jake. IMHO the only drama show I like better right know is CSI. I like HBO because of it's other series and I would say subscribe, but if you don't the first 12 episodes are worth renting.
From our discussions here on the board and in person about what we both like or dislike, I know you would really get involved in and enjoy this series. The first season of Rome was 12 episodes.
I would also subscribe to HBO so you could watch some of the other series. Deadwood is fantastic, you would like that one. Old series like Six Foot Under are great.
Joe.

The Sopranos, Curb Your Enthusiasm & Entourage make it worth the extra $ for me.

They are doing a better job this year with the series than they did last year.
If you have watched the first 4 episodes this year, you will find that they are following the historical time line of the Roman Empire very closely without much if any deviations.
As the season goes ion it just gets better. If you have yet to watch it you need to start. By far the number one show on TV at this time.

The story was well told and life in Roman times was depicted as it really would have been. Not sure when it starts here but I'm looking forward to the new season. Simon

Another blessed watcher here. It does give me the sense what Roman life was like.
I will not go so far to say it is the best drama on the boob tube, as I prefer Battlestar Gallactica & 24 over Rome.

I watched "My Name is Earl" for the first time last week. I thought it was well written and funny. A refreshing non-violent sit-com with deeper humor than what appears on the surface.

It's a very popular show in the UK. Simon

Simon, that blond chick is excellent for the part, I like her to, she plays it well as does the bar tender.
I had neighbors like this 2 years ago but they weren't as caring. I don't miss them.
