Stuck in a hotel room for the week, I just saw a TV show that I'd never seen before. It's called "House" and it stars Hugh Laurie (whoever the hell that is) as Dr. Gregory House, a surly curmudgeon of a doctor who'd rather piss people off than anything else. I have no idea if this show is good on a regular basis, but I found tonight's episode absolutely RIVETING in the extreme. He is a true rat bastard (much like yours truly), yet strangely compelling and impossible to ignore. A testament to both the acting and the writing, no doubt.
In tonight's episode, he was guest-lecturing in a (I assume) medical school class, and relating personal experiences and how they transcend anything you can learn from a textbook. Sela Ward played his ex-wife in the personal flashbacks, and they clearly had a very stormy relationship.
Has anyone else seen this show? Is it always this good? Or do you have any other opinions?....Jake

Ironically, last night, I heard an interview on NPR with the show's producer David Shore (Law and Order). The show was totally off my radar this year, but it has my interest piqued, and I will be looking out for reruns. Interview link (its about a 20 minute interview)... www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4655054Gordon

We like this show. Did anyone watch it last night? The shows are not like the typical doctor shows.
House is a real charater, my favorite type, brilliant.

Amongst other work he starred in the three Stuart Little movies, the Borrowers and one of the most popular ever BBC series Blackadder which can be seen on BBC America. He is one of the many British stars who cut their teeth in Cambridge University's 'Footlights' which also gave us John Cleese, Eric Idle and Graham Chapman. www.footlights.org/history.htmlwww.imdb.com/name/nm0491402/Simon

I don't really follow shows all that much however I do enjoy House when I catch it. Every show that I have seen has been really good.
One of my favorites was when he was battling his addition to prescription pain killers.

We watched it pretty regularly last season and enjoy it alot. My honey likes Houses' personality and gets a kick on how he talks to his patients.

I adore the show. The Dr. House character is not the only maladjusted one. (Though he does seem to be the most tormented.) I like the way they intertwine everyones neurosis. It is a little different scripting than you normally see on T.V.
