Watched the 2 hour premere on DVR last night. Appears the series is getting darker and darker.
That said, I am still sucked in, and can hardly wait for the next episode.

Have to agree, it was a pretty heavy handed opener. I hope they get the colonists off this planet and back into space before too long, I dont know if my interest will handle a prolonged time on the ground.

Wow!
What an episode last night. The Galactica entering the lower atmosphere of New Caprica, then jumping was awesome.
The character development is incredible. Kind of reminds me how well I came to know the members of the Enterprise.
Best show I watched this week.

DAMN I missed it (watching a college hockey game). Have to look at the schedule and see if I can find a rebroadcast. National Public Radio did a short review of the program, pointing out the 'edgy' nature of the production, and how it has found a style that is neither Star Trek or Star Wars. www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6358724

A bump on this thread.
The final season starts this Friday evening on SciFi. Will they find Earth? If so, what will they find?
I am sticking to my earlier guess... that they will find Earth, but humans are is Cylon (based on the theology basics, the Cylons are all monotheists while the 12 colonies are polytheists).

Let us know what happens with the series return. Sad to say it is not available down under for viewing.

Trace Here is where you can watch the new BG episodes right off of the scifi.com website. Enjoy! {Edited:"He that believeth me" is the first show of the new season} BTW- Starbuck is back having claimed to have found Earth. Baltar is morphing into a religious leader, promoting the Cylons monotheism, and the 4 newly revealed 'hidden' Cylon agents are trying to determine where their loyalties are.

Finale a couple weeks ago-All was revealed. Earth was found, and found as a nuked out ruin. And it truly has happened before and will happen again.
Anyone else see it?

I haven't watched this show since the first season, when my cable company moved Sci-Fi to their premium package.
Now that it's a wrap, maybe I'll get the DVD set when it comes out......Jake

DVD of seasons 1-3 are out already... as with many series you can skip Season 3, as they pretty much lost their way in the story line sense. You can pick up again with Season 4 without having missed much of importance.
The finale was not predictable, and Im totally bipolar on the finale as to whether I loved it or thought it sucked. HOWEVER, having seen the ending I am now going back (with the DVD's) and picking up a LOT of context that seemed unusual, as far back as season 1. It does make me wonder if they had the finale in a prelim form before they even started.

Well it's been almost two years since we spoke on this thread but I finally started to watch the remade Battlestar Galactica series yesterday. We have just hooked our Wii up to Netflix and have been watching all kinds of movies. Anyhow back to topic.
Watched the first 4 episodes last night. Yes it is very good. Yes there are some hot women on the show. Once I got all the characters down in the first show thing started coming together. Yes I like many of these characters better than the first series.
Glad that I am finally getting a chance to watch it at my pace.

Enjoy it Joe, Seasons 1 and 2 move along quite nicely, season 3 and 3.5 (as they call it) is a bit of a bitch to get through, but season 4 makes it worthwhile. Taken together, its an epic tale with a real twister of an ending and an prophetic conclusion.

Hmmmmm.... I may have to get one of the many devices that let you stream Netflix to your TV. I've only seen the first season of this show, and would love to see the rest.........Jake

The Netflix hook up with our Wii is great. Took about 5 minutes and you hook right into your current Netflix account. I didn't even know you could do that until my son-in-law told me about it.

I don't have a Wii, and have no special interest in getting one. Do you know what is the cheapest thing I could get that lets me stream Netflix? Perhaps a Blue-Ray player? Or can I do it from my computer?

I think you can do it from you computer. You just need a hook up from you computer to your TV or you can watch it on your computer.
The Wii worked out great for us since we have it for the grandkids.

If only there were stores where you could go get the disks, put those into a machine that would put them right up on your tv

I hesitate to buy TV series DVDs. What are the odds I'm ever going to watch them again? I'd rather put the money into a system that lets me watch new stuff on an ongoing basis.

Well then, maybe a store where you could rent the disks on a daily basis, sounds like a business we need yo get into.

I could probably rent the actual disks from Netflix. As far as brick-and-mortar rental stores, they are few and far between in these parts anymore.

Same here, we have one left in town and even with my upgraded satellite link it takes overnight to download a movie, plus my 5Gb/7days download cap makes it a once a week thing at best.

Up date. We are half way done with season 2. This is a great show, right up there with STNG and DSN9.
Also found out yesterday that Netflix has the 1978 BSG show on video over my Wii, so we started watching it last night also. Very interesting comparing the two shows and almost 30 years differnce.

Edited: You will note that they have not shown and will not show, another alien species throughout the series, Olmos said he would walk if they introduced aliens... also, they dont have huge amounts of technology like Star Trek, that they then have to kludge up reasons why they cant use it to come up with an interesting story

I don't know if I can go with better, but at least equal to. BSC just figured the universe was them and the Cylons. Star Trek was to reach out and find new civilizations. I think it is a good thing that they do not introduce any new alien life forms in their show.

I think by the time you get to the end of the series you will say better. The star trek universe is an open ended story, BSG is more like an epic tale with a conclusion, which to me at least, makes it more satisfying.

Just finished season 2.5. Really ch-ch-change of events. Okay Gordon I am just about ready to bite on the better than Star Trek, but I am a hard core Trek Fan so lets see what happens next.

You are headed into season three Joe, be prepared for some storyline tangents. Push through, it could be tough going, but you will be rewarded for your diligence.
