TNT was showing "Dracula 2000" tonight, a movie I loved when I saw it in the theater. It was just as good on the tube. But it got me thinking: what are your favorite Vampire movies? I know Hazel and I both enjoy this genre. Some of my favorites, off the top of my head and in no particular order: - The original Bela Lugosi version (which really is good, if you haven't seen it, you MUST)
- Bram Stoker's Dracula (the Francis Ford Coppola film)
- Van Helsing (not a classic, but recent, and quite good)
- Nosferatu (definitely a classic)
- Shadow of the Vampire (a sly comedy about the making of Nosferatu, with the premise that Max Schreck, who played the vampire, really WAS a vampire!)
- Dracula 2000 (a great updating of the genre)
- From Dusk Till Dawn (Tarantino/Rodriguez spin on the genre)
- Count Yorga (a cult classic from the 70s)
Some might add "Interview With the Vampire" to this list, but I must omit it, for obvious reasons. What say YOU?.....Jake P.S. - Gerard Butler, who played Dracula in "Dracula 2000" is also on the list of contenders to be the next James Bond in the article JD linked in the other thread (sorry, Simon, he's a Scott).

Yup, yup. I love vampire books and movies! Jake's list is good but it's missing some of my favorites:
The Lost Boys Fright Night (Parts I and II) Buffy the Vampire Slayer (just 'cuz it's funny!) Love at First Bite (George Hamilton as a vamp, how can you not laugh?) Blade (the orginal) Underworld (vamps vs. werewolves ... watch out!)
And yes ... sorry to defile your message board, baby ... but I actually loved 'Interview with the Vampire' even though I was prepared to hate it because I couldn't see TC as Lestat. I also liked 'Queen of the Damned', adapted from another Anne Rice novel. I thought Stuart Townsend made a great rock-n-roll Lestat. He could bite my neck anytime!
On TV I used to love to watch the old "Dark Shadows" TV series when I was a young'un. The re-make of the series (was that in the late 80's?) wasn't so great but it had Ben Cross as Barnabas Collins... and I LIKED him as a vampire. Plus he was mucho mas sexier than the original TV Barnabas.
I also followed the "Buffy" and "Angel" TV series as long as I could before both series were no longer new and fresh to me.

Thanks, hunny bunny! And if we're going to include spoofs, I'll add "Dracula: Dead and Loving It" to the list. Leslie Nielson in a Mel Brooks film. It isn't as funny as Brooks has been in other films, but is excellent at being very true to the original novel and the Stoker film. Lots of very nice touches that only a true buff would catch, like the way certain lines are spoken.....Jake
