Okay gang... I try to pick a "movie of the year" each year to post on my TNMC website (see right here: tnmc.homestead.com/movieoftheyear.html ) The purpose of the "movie of the year" in my mind is not to pick the BEST movie, but rather the movie that most sticks in my craw, and makes me want to see it again and again and again. And of course, only movies that I got around to seeing can qualify! I haven't picked one for 2004 yet, and I figured I'd solicit all of your opinions. Here are my preliminary thoughts. What say you?......Jake 2004 MOVIE OF THE YEAR COMPETITION I haven't seen all of the 2004 movies yet, so this analysis is likely to ch-ch-change, but I wanted to get a jump on the rundown of the best of the best, and the worst of the worst. overall, 2004 was a pretty mediocre year for movies. nothing really fabulous, and none so spectacularly bad as to arouse comment. so far, here are my extremes: the best of the movies from 2004: - the incredibles: great humor, storytelling, and animation - saw: very affecting and the first movie in years to almost send me running for the exit - sky captain: groundbreaking set design - the passion of the christ: very, very, very affecting. could be the movie of the year. the worst of the year for 2004: - ocean's twelve: gimme a break! hollywood masturbation at its worst - king arthur: what the fuck? - kill bill volume 2: talk and talk and talk, with about five minutes of action I'm not through digesting all of this yet, but I wanted to post something before the first month of the year was out!

Had planned to leave them at the theatre and pick them up after as I didn't think it would be my kind of movie, but changed my mind and went with them. I'm glad I did, it was AWESOME!! Loved every minute of it, and it's definately one of the best movies of 2004.
