We just got back from the Aviator. Leonardo Dicapprio did a great job acting but the movie was very slow and far too long at 2:45. We did learn alot about Howard Hughes but we do not recomend it for kids. I almost took my kids last weekend but it didn't work out. It's a very good thing because they would have been bored. We were by far the youngest couple 44/48 in the theatre. Overall ** out of *****.

We saw it last weekend and thought it was good for the part of HH's life that was depicted (about a twenty year period from 1927-47) but that it omitted quite a bit about Hughes. There was not much about his early career in Houston, his marriage to Ella Rice and later big donations to the university that bore her family's name (Rice University) or his takeover of Las Vegas or the extreme reclusiveness of his later life. Hughes died (I believe in 1976) on a private jet from Nicaragua to Houston and there was a lot to the Hughes story that happened after 1947. Hughes Tool Company and their big competitor Smith are still the gold standard for drill bits.
