It must be my lucky day... The first batch of tickets for the the historic NFL regular season game between Miami Dolphins and the New York Giants at the new Wembley Stadium in London was heavily oversubscribed and the chances of getting a pair were so slim I didn't even bother trying. Last night I received an email notification saying that the final 1000 were being released at 10am this morning, so I though why not give it a go. So at 10am I was logged onto the official website and refreshing the 'search for available tickets' page over and over... And I got a pair!! This was much to the disgust of one of my employees who spent 20 minutes trying to get some but without any luck. Anyone want to join me? Simon (who also bought 4 tickets for the Sex Pistols 'final' reunion tour at the same time)

You have better luck scoring Giants tickets than folks in NY -- they have a loyal fan-base of season ticket holders and every home game is always sold-out each season.
BTW, I hope you don't plan on driving to the game ...

The NFL could have at least sent two better teams to represent them than these two losers.

Fortunately, most in London probably wont notice... I hope the first string hooligans will be on hand at least.

The NFL could have at least sent two better teams to represent them than these two losers. I think the decision was based on if the plane to England crashes and all the players die, losing which two teams would have the least impact on the sport?

It's pure marketing to ensure a sell-out and gain maximum media exposure. The Miami Dolphins and the New York Giants, along with the Dallas Cowboys, are the most recognisable NFL names in the UK. Ask anyone here with less than a passing interest in the sport (ie most people) and they'd be hard pushed to name any other teams.

You could add to that list: Oakland, Houston, Minnesota, Cleveland, Buffalo, Atlanta, Arizona and yes they suck again New Orleans. Joe.

My nephew quite likes the Carolina Panthers and he's in Scotland. Made my sister and brother-in-law stay up to watch the SuperBowl when it was on. I bought him an American Football for Christmas that we took out to a local park and threw to each other when I was there. It was a great day for the two of us.

PS. I hope you enjoy the game Simon! Go Dolphins...!! Trent Green - the Quarterback used to play for the Redskins in DC - we shouldn't have gotten rid of him - he did a lot of good things for St. Louis team when he was there. Was injured a lot last couple of years though.

I like Trent Green - liked him when we signed him and thought we shouldn't have released him. It was also more of the fact that I'm most DEFINITELY NOT a GIANT'S fan... ;D ;D (Division Rivals and all) At least it's not the Cowboys... ;D Actually been watching a lot of the Green Bay games this year and enjoying them.

I thought in London it was Strawberries and Cream... Zilla (who would kill for a scone and a nice milky tea right now) Traditionally it's orange segments for the players. Which reminds me of the one about the coach saying to David Beckham, who is making his first appearance after yet another injury "David, I'm going to let you have a good run out in the first half then I'll pull you off at half-time." Beckham immediately bursts into tears and sobs "Can't I just have an orange segment like the rest of the lads?" Simon

Well Simon your game is coming up the weekend. You get the 5-2 Giants against the 0-7 Dolphins. Should be a blow out by the Giants. The Dolphins really suck.
Hope you enjoy the game.
Joe.

Thanks Joe, I'm really looking forward to the it. As well as being my first NFL game it will also be my first time at the newly rebuilt Wembley Stadium, which is our national sports stadium where all England's home football matches are played. So a big day for me all round. I've been watching as much NFL as I can (in between the Rugby World Cup - but lets not dwell on Saturday night's events ) over the past week or so to try get my head round the rules and some of the finer points of the sport, and I'll be taking my camera along and hope to get some good pictures to post. Simon,
You HAVE to do what is done here in the US at football game to get on TV, just before the ball is hiked, run up between the offensive and defensive lines.
The players LOVE it, everyone has a good laugh, and you get on TV, not to mention recognition from the fans in the stadium. It happens every game here.

According to the little picture on the back of the tickets I'll be in the first level, third row, right behind the goal to the left of the royal box... which I'm assuming if the cameras are set up the same as in the old stadium that will be to the left on your screen. So now you have no excuse for not spotting me Simon

Write your name on it (your name IS "John" by the way), and put some numbers after it, 3 or 4 numbers will do (3:16 is VERY POPULAR, though what that particular time means is unclear, maybe when the sign was made), and hold up the sign every time the ball is being kicked through the uprights. ABSOLUTELY a televised football game tradition. The people seated behind you will understand, and wont miss the action at all, and everyone watching will see you
