Well here is our trip report for our Western Caribbean Cruise last week. Just so everyone knows we cruised on the Caribbean Princess , which was not the ship that listed sideways during the same time period. That ship was the Crown Princess.
Well our adventure started our on the morning of July 14th. After spending the night in San Francisco we arrived at the SFO at 6:30AM to find out our flight on Delta to Atlanta was cancelled due to mechanical failure of the plane in Hawaii (at least that is what they told us). They said the next available flight to Atlanta was at 10:00pm that evening. (Joe starting to get pissed off) I told them that was bullshit, either get us out of here earlier or put us on another airline. After a line of bullshit from the booking agent saying they can’t do that, and after me telling him to kindly go screw himself (well not really kindly) they put us on a 11:45 AM flight out of Oakland. After a 30 minute Cab ride we arrived at the Oakland Airport and finally got our trip on the way. We arrived at our final destination of Fort Lauderdale Friday evening at 10:30 EDT and finally made our hotel by 11:30.
We left the hotel Saturday 1:00PM and boarded the ship, got our cabin and was settled in by 2:00PM. Then the eating and drinking (a lot of both) started.
We had four stops on the trip. Ocho Rios, Princess Cays, Grand Cayman Island and Cozumel.
In Ocho Rios we took a tour that included lunch at Café Aubergine. It was about 15 miles outside of Ocho Rios. It was great. They served us a pumpkin-garlic soup that was out of this world, and Red Snapper with a light creamy-garlic sauce for the main dish. We also had a stop at the Wassi Art Factory, took a tour of the facility and bought a couple of pieces of pottery.
Princess Cays is Princess Cruise Lines private beach. We did some snorkeling, drank some beers and had a nice lunch, took in some sun and a little nap before returning to the ship.
Grand Cayman was a shopping day. Enough said. My Discover Card is still hemorrhaging from the excessive use. I might have to shoot it to put it out of it's misery
In Cozumel, we took a snorkel trip which included an all you can eat Mexican lunch and all the booze you could drink. Well Denice behaved herself, but I, well lets put it this way, I got my money’s worth.
The food was outstanding on the ship. I had lost 25 pounds since January 1st but I think I put it all back on last week. The entertainment was great, either a comedy show or stage show every night. The service was outstanding, our cabin was very comfortable, and the ship was very spacious.
All in all we had a great time. The trip allowed us to get our batteries recharged to make it our December trip to Hedo II.
While on the ship, we also book another cruise for next year. lWe leave on July 14th, 2007 for 9 days from New York City on the Crown Princess to the Eastern Caribbean, going to San Juan, Bermuda, Grand Turks and I think St Marteen(sp).
Looks like this is what we are going to be doing for the next couple of summers. Denice wants to take a European cruise in 2008 and the Tahitian Cruise in 2009 or visa versa. She points and I follow.
Here is a picture of us on formal night (clean up pretty good for a dirt farmer ;D ;D).
