Our neighbors took us out for dinner yesterday and we rode the bikes (motorcycles) down some of the prettiest roads. It was hot when we left, but we then rode down a road where the trees had overgrown and it must have been 10 degrees cooler. The majestic oaks with their Spanish moss were spectacular. We arrived at a restaurant named Caribbean Joe's. We were escorted to a covered swing with a table in the middle on the deck that over looked the intercoastal. It was really cool! There was a light ocean breeze and we watched the boat traffic.
As an appetizer my neighbors ordered alligator tail bites and crab dip. The Alligator was really good. AND I SWEAR you would have thought they were chicken! My neighbor actually asked to see the package. I have had some years ago that tasted "fishy" and I didn't like it. The crab dip was stupendous!! (This is high praise coming from someone who doesn't eat anything that comes out of the ocean except shrimp! LOL) The food was excellent...I went for the Chicken Ceasar. While we were eating we announced that it was 22nd anniversary.
We sat there enjoying the cool breezes for quite a long time. Then Jerry yells "OMG, Happy Hour at the Broken Spoke is still on! Dollar beers "!!!!! This is our favorite biker bar . It is an outdoor bar and our favorite bartender "Mel from Hell" runs the joint. So we jump on the bikes and roar off. We get there and order a round of drinks including a shot of Crown which was really almost two shots. Can you even imagine a shot of Crown for $2.50? But alas, Mel had just hired a new girl and no longer works weekends there....bummer. Mel travels with the bike circuit. The Broken Spoke Saloon always has a bar at all the big bike events like Sturgis, Daytona, Laconia, and Myrtle Beach. So tomorrow Mel is off to Laconia!
Oh anyway...we finish our CHEAP drinks and head off into the sunset to our next destination...Saints and Sinners! This is our neighbors favorite bar. This is a very upscale biker bar...We all had a libation and decided to get some wind in our faces. We rode home just as the sun was setting and it seemed that everything in the world was right. We pull up in our driveway and there was a little bunny on the side of our house. It let me get within three or four feet of it. It was really cute...I am not use to wild rabbits having short ears!! Anyway, we went in to the house grabbed a couple of beers and a plate of brownies (no not those kind of brownies you silly wabbits!) and headed over to the neighbors. Just a really nice relaxing day!
