Just for the hell of it, I thought I would bore you all with the story of my weekend in Lake Geneva.
We stayed at the Grand Geneva which used to be the playboy club. It was nice, but very expensive and not worth the cost.
When we got there we discovered that they had a 5k run the next morning. I wasn't planning to do it, but I woke up early and decided, what the hell! Even though I've been working out regularly lately, it's been a couple years since I did 5k all at once. It nearly murdered me. Chicago is nice and flat - a good place to run a 5k. Lake Geneva is hilly and a bitch! That must've been the toughest 5k I've ever done. And the slowest too, probably.
We also went golfing at Lake Lawn. It was an OK course. That was my first time playing with the GPS computer in the cart. It was fun as a toy, but not really all that helpful. My long game was on, but my short game was off - which was really annoying since I was just over par on the glow-in-the-dark mini-golf the night before. I think it was the hills again. The mini-golf had nice flat greens. The golf course greens were going to make me seasick just looking at them.
Sunday night was the best part. The resort put on a big fireworks display right by the pool. We were laying on pool loungers and looking straight up at the display. It was neat to see it that way, but the ash bits that were falling on us were a bit distracting. Especially that piece that was as big as a CD and missed my knee by a couple inches.
We ended the weekend with tubing on Geneva Lake. We rented a boat and a tube and had a great time. I rented it all for 4 hours, but it started to rain and got really cold about 3 hours into it, so we took the boat back and they gave me a rain check. I can go back any time and do another hour of boating and tubing without haveing to pay for it.
Hope your weekends were fun too.
