Great pictures Heidi!! I love the ones of Niagara Falls, they remind me that it's been far too many year since I visited Canada, in fact it's been 21 years exactly and my last trip over was a 21st birthday present.

Way cool.......Jake Anyone have any idea what the two buildings are called? My family moved to Toronto when I was six months old and we stayed there until I was seven. We lived in an apartment overlooking Thorncliff Park. There were very few high rises then, in fact I think the building where my dad worked for the Toronto Dominion Bank was one of the first at the time. Simon (who as a young boy won a Viewmaster in a competition on CTV's Uncle Bobby Show by copying a painting of a bird that the show's resident wildlife artist Barry MacKay had painted... by an odd coincidence he lived on the floor above us so he delivered it to me in person)

Wow Heidi, beautiful pictures. The one with the rainbow is so cool! Did you go to the Casino at Niagara, I hear it's a pretty nice one since they rebuilt it a couple of years ago.
I love the Toronto Metro Zoo, we've brought our kids and now our grandson to visit and it never fails to entertain. It must be beautiful at this time of the year, hopefully some of the leaves have started to ch-ch-change by now.
Glad you had such a great trip and thanks for sharing those wonderful pictures.

Way cool.......Jake You sly dog.............I'm sure you know that Toronto has filled in for many American cities in many films. Unfortunately, I think our high Canadian dollar may stop movie producers from choosing Canadian cities to film in going forward..........hey, but I can buy cheap booze in Plattsburgh when we go in a few weeks! Simon, I didn't know you lived in TO for a while...................you have to come back to visit and make sure you see Montreal too, especially in the summer when all the festivals are going on (the Jazz Fest is my favourite, as anyone who reads my posts knows!)

Jo~it really was a great trip! loved canada and didn't want to come home.only thing i didn't like was the price of smokes theer..OMG i knew they were higher but i had no idea...one place charged me $11 a pack....and then the very graphic pictures of the side effects of smoking...very effective....really got me wanting to quit...that'll be my next hurdle.. I took 500+ pictures between the three destinations...will add a few more later. had a fabulous view of the falls from our hotel room...sat for hours taking shots of the falls ch-ch-changing colors with the lights at night. the casino was a blast too~didn't win but it really is beautiful.stayed at the embassy suites right next door so it was a quick hop over there. we did the maid of the mist, walk behind the falls,by the falls and the butterfly conservatory.....reminds you of how powerful and beautifuly amazing mother nature is...great trip....something i think everyone should see!!!

BTW- I heard on the news this morning that for the first time in 30 years the Canadian dollar is on par with the US dollar. About 6 years ago the Canadian dollar only fetched about 70 cents US. I recall growing up in Detroit that quite a bit of Canadian ch-ch-change could be found in the average pocket because no one bothered to exchange it. It will be interesting to see if that starts happening again. It wil be REALLY intersting if the Canadian $1 and $2 coins start showing up in cash transactions.

The building in the centre is the "Flatiron" building built in 1892 by George Gooderham. The building to the right is now known as "Brookfield Place" more commonly known as BCE Place and is the home of the Hockey Hall of Fame. The building to the left of the Flatiron building is one of the buildings that form the TD Towers.

What a nice surprise to see you on the board Katherine. It's good to see you and hopefully maybe you'll drop by more often.
Thanks for IDing the buildings. I checked with my dad since I posted in this thread about the buildings in Heidi's fabulous pictures. He told me that it was Toronto-Dominion Bank Tower, the first of the six towers in the TD Centre to be completed, that he worked in from when it opened in 1968 until we came back to the UK a few years later.

Great photos Simon, isn't that funny, we live just south of Thorncliffe Park on the other side of the Don Valley, about a seven minute drive. Nowadays Thorncliffe Park has a large multi-cultural and immigrant population. It's a nice area. There are a couple of good places there for good cheap (and authentic) Indian, Pakistani, etc. food. Katherine, nice to see you!
