Liz & Chris & Mike & Teresa do the cliffs!! A very brief note on our trip:
We stayed on the West End Road at our favorite little villa....very very private & peaceful & very nude friendly. The service there is so discrete & respectful of our desire to be nude 24/7....they ring a little cow bell to let us know they are on their way to deliver coffee or towels or whatever.
Weather was wonderful, except for 1st full day there when there was a torrential downpour. Since we were out walking when the rain came we removed our sandals & started running towards Sexy Rexy's Dance Hall for cover. Damn if Teresa didn't take off her sandal & drop it in one of the culverts...we got to watch the ole sandal make it's way thru the rushing water, down under the road & zip out to sea! Too funny.
We were surprised to see few spring breakers up at 'our' end of the cliffs (yeah!!) ... though we saw them pass by daily on the cat cruises up to Rick's. We didn't venture to the beach...avoiding the breakers was a goal.
We had several dolphin sightings ... one was simply incredible...about 6 dolphins were following the Sandals dive boat which stopped right in front of our villa....we all watched the dolphins frolicing for about 10 minutes. Right at sunset...it was magical. We had a few other dolphin sightings as well, but none as good as that one. Also saw a huge ray while snorkeling off the cliffs and a sea turtle. The water was calm & sparkling turquoise...the color of the water up on the West End is breathtaking.
Wonderful meals at 3 Dives, Xtabi, Hungry Lion, LTU, Kuyaba, Rushes, Ollie's Snack Shack & a zillion other spots for just picking up pattie's or a light snack. Juicy, the manager & cook at our villa, also made us some wonderful meals. The mango, pineapple, papaya, tomatoes, cucumbers were all so fresh & delicious!!
The vendors on the West End seem to have a new tactic going. We've known many of them for the past several years & decided their new sales technique seems to be "building relationships"....rather than "buy my stuff now"....it was quite a turnaround from our past trips & wonderfully refreshing.
Seems there is a big lime & lemon shortage right now & we were searching everywhere for limes.....one of the vendors nearby heard we were looking & the next day called us over & told us he'd picked a few at his mom's & gave us a handful....and refused any cash. Another time we were handed some type of herb that was grown nearby ...just because we had 'the friendly smile'. And yet another time we were given bracelets for just checking out the wares in a stall. The kindness & generous nature of the folks on the cliffs continues to amaze us. And we didn't even have to ask about their kids or leave old shampoo for them!!
We did a day pass to Hedo & I said a brief 'hi' to Tex. Saw several old friends & enjoyed having the sand beneath our toes for the day. We were happy to get back to the cliffs & relax relax relax.
Lots of sunbathing (and the requisite applying of lotion). Lots of lounging on the waterbed watching the sea. Reading, floating, snorkeling (my trusty water wings worked like a charm yet again!), eating, drinking, cards, late nights, dancing. And just sitting around watching the sea & soaking up the rays.
It was definitely one of our very best Negril trips ever and we are seriously suffering from 'coming home depression.' We'll be doing the Hedo/cliffs thing in November....but we may try to squeeze in another little trip b4 then.
Magical is truly the word to sum up this past trip!!
