As many of you know our trip was off to an auspicious beginning due to both Jerry and I being diagnosed with kidney stones. Jerry was feeling so bad we didn't even decide until the morning of our reservations that we would actually go.
As I was sitting in the airport in Orlando talking to Renee, (who was telling me about blizzard conditions) we were dreaming of warm tropical breezes and naked bodies slathered in oil!
Here is where the story really begins:
We decided to go to H3 because our friends Bruce and DJ were going and I had always wanted to see H3.
We bought a voucher at the WWW silent auction in Dec. for four nights at H3.
I called Hedo III and was told that they had rooms available and there were not any blackouts until the last week of February. So I faxed them the appropriate paperwork and was told that we could not use it during the entire month of February. After a several phone calls and many emails and some help from Denny (which was greatly appreciated) we booked. We ended up buying three more days than we wanted just so we could use the voucher. Anyway, don't get me started on that subject as I am still pissed!!!
Saturday:
We arrive in Montego bay after a flight of one hour and thirty six minutes. We board the bus and drive a road that was very reminiscent of the "OLD" road to Negril.
We already know that resort is overbooked, and they will be bumping to Breezes, which is just up the road but not within walking distance. I am figuring with the shit storm that I created, we will be bunking at Breezes. We arrive and we are escorted to our room. We walk in and realize "HOLY SHIT", it is a swim up room in what is known as the quad. This was exactly the room I wanted. I am doing a happy dance!!!! We immediately get naked and practically run to the nude pool to meet our friends and introduce ourselves to the group we had joined on line. Our friends were happy to see us and we were cold shouldered by the group. (We heard later that we weren't the only ones who felt this way. The same comment came from at least six or eight other couples that we met.) We went to dinner. The food was OK, but service SUCKED!! It was hard to get silverware, water, or a glass of wine. And once you got it ...be happy...because unless you walked up and grabbed a bottle you weren't getting another glass of wine.
The main bar was the same way. Jerry waited at least ten or fifteen minutes for a drink because the bartenders were too busy ignoring him. (Not because they were too busy) I got there attention by waving my hand and basically yelling my order. For those of you that don't know me, behavior like that is out of character for me. (I worked as a bartender for about five years.)
Sunday:
We went to breakfast and the food was about the same as H2...omelettes (except there were no onions, which I truly love), pastries, the fruits were ripe and tasty, and most things in the buffet weren't identifiable to me But they had plenty of bacon!!!
We walked down to the pool. The coordinators showed up at about 12:30 to play scavenger hunt...but only two couples could play and if the coordinators didn't know you they would play favorites. Jerry was feeling really bad laying out in the sun and became extremely dizzy so I walked with him back to the room. (By this time we figured out that he was probably reacting to the antibiotics.) As he slept in the room there was a guy from Russia who did not speak English that jumped from a third story window near our room..He had double locked the door and they found needles and a lot of drugs in his room. He hit the pool deck. (Fracturing his pelvis) Got up and went into the pool and was trying to fight off security and the paramedics. He grabbed the syringe that the medics had filled with tranquilizer and stuck at least two of them. Finally they subdued him and put him five point restraints (supposedly) and still he was able to kick open the back door of the ambulance. That was the excitement for Sunday!!!!
Monday: No sun day
Nice day until it started to rain. We opened up the french doors that overlooked the pool and Bruce and DJ stopped in, and we sat out of the rain. Oh, did I mention it was chilly? But it still had that "outdoorsy" feel...LOL
Tuesday (Valentines Day): No sun day
Rain, rain, go away, come again another day!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gift exchange was in the afternoon...not one tenth the fun of the WWW exchanges!!!!! The weather was so bad that the waves were hitting the seawall and drenching the Scotch Bonnet restaurant so the exchange was held in the dining room where one coordinator was heard to exclaim that this is dining room and it was not the place to hold a naughty gift exchange.
We arrived a little late for dinner..it looked like there were a lot of locals who had come into celebrate Valentines Day and we ended up sitting at the edge of the dining room where the wind was blowing the rain in!!! I was wearing slutwear and a Maui Nix sweatshirt and STILL freezing!!! We were so miserable that we did not even go to the PJ party!!! And that is my favorite activity at Hedo!!!! Jerry was asleep long before the PJ party even started! AND...I watched the Olympics! This NOT typical Hedo behavior for us!!!
<<<<<OH>>>>> and did I mention the poor guy who had a seizure by the main pool bar and died??
Wednesday:
Did I mention that rain SUCKS? But it stopped by afternoon. Of course the sun comes out and I had another problem with the kidney stone thing... But I felt better by early afternoon and I took our new friend Cliff's advice and started drinking lots of beer, and by hot tub time I was in rare form for dirty dice...yea mon...Sobered up and went to dinner with friends at the Japanese Restaurant. The food was OUTSTANDING!!!!!!
Thursday:
Rain in the morning
Met new people as we hung out in the "quad". This is the clothing optional part of the resort. There were more naked people there than clothed. Met some nice people. Missed everyone else getting drunk.
Friday:
Weather was fabulous!!!!!!!!!!
Most of the group that was there had left. A truth or dare game was brought out and and the fun began. We started out by security telling us body shots were not allowed!!!! Don't tell us not to do something...we kept that security guard on the run and probably shocked and highly annoyed by our outrageous behavior...and she thought the body shots were bad...lol...counting the hours tell we can go home!!!! There is something really wrong with that picture!!!!!
\
Saturday:
We get to go home!!!!! Yea!!!!! Got up early to see Bruce and DJ and Bill and Anna off. Said goodbye to new friends Manny and Trish. Said so long till May, to Cliff and Patti...
We went to H3 knowing Bruce and DJ. But, the wonderful people I mentioned above, we now consider new friends.
[uOverview:
Rooms were nice...our electrical outlets didn't work for two days.
They never did bring us a remote for the TV that worked...and don't say a damn word about "You don't need TV at Hedo".
1. Because first of all I payed for it and I expect to get what I pay for.
2. We were both ill and stuck in the room.
3. AND I wanted to watch some of the Olympics
Food was typical Hedo fair.
Dining room and bar staff were hopeless...
No activities unless you wanted to play trivia...
AND the weather sucked...but I do have an awesome tan!!! Of course I have been in a tanning bed for two months and at H2 for eleven days in December!!!
We REALLY missed all our Hedo II friends and the hijinks and antics that we get up to!!!!!!
I would like to thank Anna for talking to the management and securing our quad room for us. And I think you should market that Truth or Dare game!!!! You ROCK girl!!!!
Moral:WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO H3 EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
