I'm usualy terrible with heights, I can't even make it more than 6 or so rungs up a ladder, but I'm fine if I'm in an enclosed space, like the London Eye or a glass evavator, or feel secure, like at the top of the Empire State Building. Put me within 20 feet of a clifftop though and I just want to throw myself to the ground and hold on for dear life!! Simon I've got to admit that I'm pretty much the same way Simon. I only discovered it when I went to see the Grand Canyon 2 years ago. The guide walked right out on a cliff (I was fine as long as I was "inside" the railing but there are un-railed portions) where there was no rail and a lot of our group followed him. I started having a very BAD panic attack and could not bring myself any where near to where all the others were. I tried but I just envisioned myself (being the klutz that I am anyway) tripping over one of the uneven cracks or rocks and falling to my death in the FAR below canyon. It was awful. I was there with my girlfriend so I didn't even have a guy to hold on to and calm my nerves a bit. It surprised me that I had that kind of reaction too! Gets me the same, I can't even bear to watch people freeclimbing on TV because it stresses me too much. I went parasailing when we were in Turkey last... I knew the moment my feet left the boat that I'd made a BIG mistake. I was terrified!! Simon

That's why we haven't done the parasailing at Hedo - though we've talked about it but I think Randy is more reluctant than I am about it. (he claims it's for my sake though and I just let him think I believe that... ;D )

Depths aren't a problem for me... you could wade through some of my deepest thoughts and not even get your ankles wet.

I can't believe it -- we're on the 2nd page of this topic already and with all this talk about the London Eye, no one has yet to ponder if there's an equivalent elsewhere in the UK ... like an Irish Eye.

They're getting ready to build one in the US in New Jersey for a large project that my boss has worked on called Meadowlands Xanadu - though I'm not sure how scenic the view will be - I guess if it's not too far away it will have a good view of NYC. www.meadowlandsxanadu.com/

It won't be too popular because unfortunately, it will have an even *better* view of NJ.

My fear of heights is so bad that I have difficulty stepping off the sidewalk curb in order to cross the street. Wussy! But I mean that respectfully.

Fixed it but thank's Zilla for posting the correct one, I had too much gobbly goop at the end and that was making it bad...
It's still in the planning stages. (but they're supposedly opening in 2008?!)
It seems rather incredible to me - an indoor ski slope and the huge Ferris wheel. It's going to be so big you won't be able to get thru it in one day - size would discourage me a bit.

the website www.meadowlandsxanadu.comZilla (who thinks that website give a whole lot of fluff, and not much real information) Thanks, Zilla. You're right about the "fluff", unfortunately all I see is the potential for a hell of a lot more traffic on the weekends when we go that way to get to Sandy Hook.

Don't feel bad Renee - they've just approved skyrise housing to be built in Tysons Corner (where I now work) and this is going to add I don't know HOW many cars to the road - my commute for 7 miles to work takes me a half hour to 45 mins every day NOW... It's worse then when I worked in DC!! If I leave work late I get home within 15 minutes.... Colleen
