The resort is a family resort located on a stretch of beach about a 1/4 mile long. It is adjacent to a marine nature preserve. It is a super inclusive Superclubs resort. We booked ROH and ended up in the best part of the resort, much to our surprise. We booked two rooms as we have two teenage sons and one of their friends along. While the rooms were spacious, all with a private balcony or patio, they were of typical condition for a Superclubs resort. The bath fixtures (tub/sink) had been painted instead of resurfaced and, of course, peeling. The rooms appeared clean but mold was noticeable on the walls, ceilings and sofa. For the record, none of us got the crud while we were there.
The complex was well laid out, from our perspective, as our rooms were located on the edge of everything. We had an easy walk to all the activities. The dining room food was typical Superclubs fare. Very institutionalized. As usual, the breakfast is probably the best meal you can get there. The lunches were better than the dinners, in my opinion. We ate at Manusan's twice and loved their food. We all had our fill and then some there. The Sunset Grill (Breezes answer to the Scotch Bonnet) was also worth the reservation. They served steak, fish, jerk chicken and ribs! Unfortunately, I never got full there due to giving my food to the teenage boys with us! We all know how teenage boys can pound the groceries!!!
There are 4 bars on site. Two on the beach, one by the main pool and one in the disco. It took me about a day to realize you need to ask for some extra alcohol added to your mudslides or margaritas as they pre-mix them for each bar for the day. Their premium liquors are limited to Schmirnoff, Beef Eater, Jack Daniels and Tanguray. They did have Bailey’s and did make my chocolate martini for me after dinner.
It's difficult for us to valuate the activities at the resort as our boys met several other teenagers on our day of arrival and they made their own fun!!! I guess they are chips off the old block in this aspect!
The boys did climb the rock and our 14 year old, who is deathly afraid of heights, (just like mom) was talked into swinging on the trapeze by his friends. With knees quivering, he took the swing in hands and jumped off the platform. While he didn’t do any flips, he did do the swinging properly. And the drop was the easiest thing for him as he knew it meant he would be that much closer to solid surface!!!
Activities for adults there are limited to drinking games. Organized volley ball, (both beach and pool), trivia games and dancing lessons for fun, are offered to everyone. Night life consisted of the dinner show, of which three nights consisted of Karaoke, ending around 10 p.m. and then an entertainer/s on the pool deck just outside the dining room/pastafari's until 11 or 11:30. There is a casino on site (just behind the dining room) which is open 11 a.m. until 4 a.m. daily. It is also open to the public. I/we went there 5 nights for about an hour or so each. I had a great time there as they had a few roulette tables (my game of choice). I came home $64 ahead! Not bad for a .50 cent bet, $2.00 minimum. A disco is on site but the adults don't seem to go there. Our boys were there with their friends every night until they were kicked out.
My favorite part of the trip was the diving!!! Our 17 year old is a certified diver and went with me. This resort allows one shore dive per person per day. If you are certified you are allowed to go on your own. As I stated earlier, the resort is adjacent to a marine preserve. I have been diving only in Jamaica, but have snorkeled several places. This area was beautiful! I can't do justice to what I saw. Too many species of fish to know, we saw sea snakes, octopus, squid, lobsters, shrimp, barracuda, crabs, (You can also see seahorses here but we weren’t the fortunate few that did), and the flora was breathtaking! The colors were vivid and everywhere!!! Needless to say, I will never waste my time diving in Jamaica again!
We truly enjoyed this vacation and Curacao. We would love to go back someday!!!
