Simon I agree with DJ! I am now wondering if Jerrys horrible cough and wheezing maybe mold induced...He hasn't felt well since we returned. Of course he may have just picked up a bug! I didn't even mention the mold or the leak in the bathroom wall in my trip report. Edie, Mold will make me cough and wheeze - I have been in a motel room that had mold in it and literally couldn't breathe (I guess akin to an asthmatic) after about 2 hours or less in the room (not at Hedo - probably woudn't have been in the room that long ) Though I will say that Randy and I have found mold at HII in the room before too but we bring the 'ole faithful lysol and spray everything when we first get in and it's actually NEVER been THAT bad. This Dec trip was a good one and I sprayed the AC right away and I did ok - didn't get sick and wasn't sick after I got home either. I also took Airborne and other stuff with me to help with my allergies. Anyway, what I'm saying is that it well COULD have been the mold in the room for Jerry and I'd watch him/be careful if you're ever in that situation again - sounds like he had a reaction. Colleen

Give you an idea of what my H3 trip was in Oct. Got there on Saturday and by Sunday I had a really dry starting to get sore throat. By Monday I was coughing a really dry cough and then throat was officially sore. By Monday night/ Tuesday morning I had a fever or the beginnings of one. I didn't let it get to me but by Thursday, I was pushing to be a happy person. Doctor was treating me for Bronchitis like symptoms but wouldn't run other tests. I had two antibotics and an inhaler which I never have used one in my life prescribed by me.
Now all this could have been a hell of a cold/virus going around, but when there was over 20 of us suffering which not everyone had contact with each other..... makes you wonder.

What happened to Drmryder is pretty much what happened to me at Hedo III last May except I didn't develop a fever. A couple of weeks after I got home I still hadn't shaken it off so I went to the doctor who decided I had developed asthma and gave me an inhaler, which I too had never used in my life before. It made no difference, and after talking to a friend from the trip who had also got sick and had been treated by her doctor for mold allergy symptoms I went back to my doctor armed with this information and was given antibiotics, which cleared it up in days.

okay achiving my response hense I finally have a post deleted.
PLN - were you trying to be cute with your post, your humor falls short with me. Please look at all those that posted about the issues with the mold and look into the achives of their posts and really read all that they have posted over the YEARS . Do you see all these very fine people complaining all the time in ALL their posts. Ah no.
Here's links to two different members that haven't been on Denny's site long enough to be considered a complainer.
member post 1
member post 2
And LASTLY, here's the link to the 'MOLD' issue where as you read through the whole post you will find that the resort admitted to the problem finally and is clearing it up.
resort responds
"Currently, with an occupancy under 50%, they are removing everything from the rooms to steam and clean as they too are concerned about the molds. They will update me as time goes by."
You will not find that the posters who post alot on the boards are constant complainers. Actually these are people who are seasoned vets of Hedo 3 and ones who have come to expect the service that we always had when we first started there. If you bothered to send anyone of us a message you will find that all the seasoned vets and most of the newer guests were actually disappointed that their beloved haven was falling below standards.
Many, thankfully, didn't get sick, but you cannot blame this on just a passing illness when there are posts of being sick in July of last year and all other times throughout the year, not just October. It basically just got to the point that H3 had to follow what H2 had to do a few years ago and clean like they do in the states. I'm glad they are doing it and I'm glad that no one has reported being that sick again. Granted if you didn't know what the place was like 5 years ago, you can't compare with what it's like now. Those new to the resort will think it's just 'normal'. So educate yourself about the people you are criticizing before you post.

PNL is pissing me off. Oh I'm sorry psssssst'in me off. You mean that it could have been something other than y'all boinking in the hot tub, sucking face, and licking numerous strangers, and partying too hard??? No Way! ;D Some of those weasel's over there should pull their heads out of their butts and get some perspective on your posts...based upon previous trip reports and posts. As I told Laura and Jef in December, I fully believe what happened at H3 in Oct according to your accounts. Just because someone else didn't experience the same things all of you did, doesn't mean it didn't happen and that you're all just a bunch of malcontents. I've read trip reports/posts of your group (namely, ones who also post here) the last several years, and the last thing I would do is to doubt your negative experiences...mainly because all the positive ones you've made in the past and a distinct love of H3 that you've shown over the years. Scott, sadly I believe we are wasting our breath over there trying to get reasonable points across. That board has become home to an endless procession of know-it-all fuckwits, and with most of the regulars who would once back each other up and add a voice of reason now driven away we are just pissing into the wind when we try to add anything that their blinkered eyes don't like.

You can't argue with ignorance. Here is what I posted in case it gets whacked.
Ok. Let's say that everyone got sick from having sex with everybody else, or from some some ongoing passing of illness from week to week. Or, let's say nobody gets sick there at all. Does it excuse the fact that the rooms were not cleaned to an acceptable level? Maybe they are clean NOW. But they certainly weren't back before Hedo admitted they had a problem. If you weren't there then, you really can't comment on it.
Seems strange to me that after the "complaints" finally caused Hedo to take action, there are still people who reaped the benefits of it that still think the "complainers" are full of s#!t.
I love first time visitors that think they know it all when it comes to Hedo. If I remember correctly, the majority of the so-called "complainers" had been there at least four, and up to dozen times, spanning 4 plus years.
Bottom line is that Hedo degraded quite a bit in upkeep and service over the years. The ch-ch-changes, remodeling, cleaning, and admission by Hedo that they had a problem, should give people a clue that the "complaints" were not just a bunch of unhappy people bitching (or was it "piss off yankees"?).
If everything is better there now, that's great. From what we have read recently, it seems like it is. That means we may want to go back there. We have friends going back in May that will verify the reports of the last few months.

It clears up everytime. One would think that the illness several had could fall under 'the caught it from someone else', but how can the same illness be reported for over a year? Also be reported that it was caught several trips by the same person? I do not think that the same stupid 'cold' can last well over a year constantly being transmitted. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Clearly, some research in the archives on this board will shed some light on what you are/were trying to get out there to the newer members, drmryder. If the others would just do a search for MOLD at Hdeo III they will get the picture of what you and others went through in the past.

Hardwork, Headache, scratchy throat, sore throat, maybe even a hi temp. Obviously, Mold is the only thing that brings out these symptoms(sarcasm). Are you for real? Just about every malady in the world has all of those symptoms. I am not saying mold is not a factor in people getting sick. I am saying that there are many many more reasons for people getting sick. A more logical explanation is what I am saying. Here is a question for you. How many people on this forum have mold growing somewhere in their own home and do not even realize it? How many people have an unfinished basement, a leak in a roof, a bathroom that has some mold they do not see? Come on now, let's be real. I think the fact that someone mentioned a few or more times makes people believe they are ill from mold. I think the term is psychosomatic( probably didn't spell it right). Because someone has mentioned it, people believe they have it. Simon,
We will have to wait until PNL gets sick which will now take awhile because H3 has begun cleaning. So even though there is documented proof that some have gotten sick from the mold. PNL is not going to believe it unless all of us were documented sick from it. My doctor didn't say one way or the other if I was, he just treated me for 'bronchitis-like' symptoms. I will not waste anymore written word to the 'fuckwit'. I have better things to do with my digits!

I've now said my last word on the subject 'over there.' PNL clearly has all the answers and won't listen to anything that anyone else says so he/she will just have to wallow in his/her own ignorance. That individual is a typical example of why that board is no longer the fun place it used to be.

I thought it was a good one too Cher!!!
I too am done posting on that board. I posted a 'nice' post and was so tempted to add:
'Hey Denny, can you do your thing on this thread!"
I have now decided it's not worth my time. I may venture back if I go to H2, but that will only be related to that trip and nothing else. I'll let all the newbies answer the next wave of newbies questions.

It's always SUCH fun to see the inevitable rebuttal to the effect that "Well, I went to H2 (or H3) and I didn't see any (mold/rats/PDA's/ganja/tipping/WMDs)..."
Somehow, the individual's single experience outweighs and invalidates the combined experience of several others? I guess if the particular individual doesn't see "it", "it" can't possibly exist.
What's happened to the art of reasoned discourse? I visited Denny's board a bunch of times, didn't see any, so I guess it doesn't exist.
An alternate solution, possibly, is that the individual in question never took his/her head out of his/her ass long enough to look around at the reality of the surroundings. Unfortunately, if you have to infer the nature of reality from your direct experience of the inside of your large intestine, you may find some dramatic deficiencies in your outlook on life.

This post will surely meet with the "BOOT" as I have made a personal remark to other posters, but Fuck it, I am a Passionate person, and I will stand up for who and what I believe/know in... This PNL ASSHOLE needs to get sick.. OOPS, He already is... Must be suffering from "FECALNOSIOITIS" aka SHIT UP HIS NOSE FROM HAVING HIS HEAD UP HIS ASS! here's what I posted:
My comments on this subject will be this: I would NOT have gone to the added expense of actually sending a "qualified" individual down to Hedo3 to obtain "samples" of the stuff growing on the underside of my mattress, the backside of my curtains, and the underneath on the furniture in the room I stayed in during my week at Hedo3 in October, 2005 if I wasn't concerned not only for MY health, but for the health and well being of future guests.(Long enough sentence for ya) The cost of obtaining this "information" was not cheap. However, given the (2) Hospital visits, the lost week of work, the laboratory testing endured, not to mention the basket full of meds I was forced to take after my "VACATION" made it a necessity. I LOVED going to Hedo. So much so that 11 visits were racked up in a 3.5 year time span... JUST TO H3... The undeniable proof that my illness was somehow directly related to HEDO3 came when my Medical records were compared side by side to my previous travel dates to none of other than HEDO3. I had been to "other resorts" in Jamaica, I had been to Cancun, and upon returning from those trips, NO ILLNESS... Not only did I become alarmed at these findings, so did people in places/positions to do something about it... It required me to "fess up" to where I had been going for vacations, and it required me to undergo a series of "drug tests." NO, I don't smoke ganja, nor do I consume any other illegal substances. It was necessary to do a "Rule Out" of other possible contaminants. I do not have sex with others at Hedo, I save my gambling for Vegas I do not party any harder at Hedo than I did on other vacations. I am NOT a "COMPLAINER" I simply had evidence that a problem existed, and I chose to do something about it, rather than just BI+CH. Yes, we could have all kept our mouths shut upon our return, (some reading this would like for us to do so now) but because we all want to be able to go back, we have to make them clean the place up. May is quickly approaching, and many of our friends will be there, and some of us might not be able to go, simply because of the "MOLD" (there, I said it) In December, 2005 I was fortunate enough to be able to go to Hedo2. During my week there, I partied just as hard, maybe harder than I did at Hedo3 the previous October, (2 months earlier) because I WASN'T SICK!!!! I myself, was even shocked that I never had the slightest sign of a sniffle, sneeze, cough, or scratchy throat. Yes, I realize what I did was risky at best, however, upon really listening to the people in those places/positions that I referred to earlier, and taking the time to get "prepared" in the event of S/S returning, I was able to have an awesome vacation. In summary, Hedo 3 can be the fabulous vacation for everyone again that it used to be, as soon as they accept that the fact that nothing short of a complete clean-up is mandatory just like Hedo2 has undergone in the recent past... After reading this board, and the many many postings regarding the "clean up" I was relatively certain that I might actually be able to return in May06 with friends... And not risk my health in doing so. Unfortunately I have very recently become aware that "MOLD" is still a problem in some of the rooms, and indeed people have returned "ILL" as recently as 2 weeks ago. These people are not just "complainers" they are friends, and I have to trust their observations and experiences over the mere observations of a first time guest who has a sense of humor, and has finally found Hedo, and wants to believe that all is well in his new found Paradise. An attitude like that is DANGEROUS to the very Health and Well being that "I" was trying to protect. I know that the monies I spent to prove that "MOLD" is the REASON for my illness, and the illnesses of many of my friends was NOT spent in vain, regardless of the arrogant, humorous, and egotistical attitudes of others. NUFF SAID!!!!!!
