Mike:
I had the 'pleasure' of being bumped to Point(less) Village in 2000. Well... we were bumped, and after looking at our rooms we refused to stay there. This WAS seven years ago, and perhaps it's gotten better, however, the room smelled very slightly like sewage, there were uncovered lightbulbs as lighting fixtures (not a huge issue, but added to the lack of ambience), doors which wouldn't close properly. Overall, it truly felt like a step DOWN from Hedo. (LOL) This past year, I was researching a trip for Brett&I and the kids and it was brought up as a suggestion. (I know Ed, you had to give it to me a suggestion) The pictures are tempting etc, but the memory of that quick visit prevented me from even entertaining it.
I, personally, would also be interested to hear if it's improved in the past few years.

This past November I was almost bumped to the Point, and in hindsight probably should have taken it.
I booked my usual single guarantee garden nude, and on arrival late afternoon, low and behold found the place overbooked. After couple hours hanging out I found that there was still no decision on my room status, and the hint was that I would be bumped over to the Point.
An hour later, they found a room for me, Garden Prude, there was some issue with the bathtub drain being broken and cement curing, but what the hell, I put my valuables in an office safe deposit box, I was on site, and I would move the next day. My luggage was dropped off, and true enough a worker was in the bathroom with the tile ripped up. I go away, have dinner, see friends and socialize. After dinner and a few drinks, I decided to go back and check my room... WTF?? instead of a single guarantee, I am in an octal (double=2, triple=3, octal=8). There are 8 workers laying around the room watching TV. I asked how the repairs are going.. almost done mon!! Good enough, it was only 10pm and I had only been up since 4 am, Im OK. Visit more people, do some more things go back to the room at midnight, I am still in a room share situation with the workers.. go to the front desk to see if these guys are going to pay for a night pass, or if I can get my room. They would check it out. 1am rolls around, and hallelujah the workers are gone, but find a note saying that I cant use the shower until because the cement hasnt cured yet... I am exhausted and ready to crash , so I decide to wash up, I got a 6 second trickle of water, the water was turned off. FUCK IT... I was going to bed, and deal with it in the morning.
Next morning I got my reserved room, and bitched about the room accommodations complaining STRENUOUSLY that I could have had a FULLY FUNCTIONAL room at the Point but instead was given this disaster of a room on site instead. I had a certificate for a free night on my next visit DELIVERED TO MY ROOM within 48 hours.
Sometimes, a night at the Point isnt such a bad thing.

We thought about buying a unit at the point (they do that) a few years back. It isn't bad but it isn't Hedo. We thought the better of it.

My experience at the Point was the same as Christie's. But that was even longer ago.

I've been lucky and never been bumped but I've heard if they try to bump you that you should insist in being bumped to Grand Lido and NOT Point Village...

. ......I've heard if they try to bump you that you should insist in being bumped to Grand Lido and NOT Point Village...I've heard that myself, many times. But I don't understand how one goes about it. "Sorry, mon, no room for you. We be bumping you to Point Village." "No, I *insist* on being bumped to Grand Lido." "Wha Mon? No rooms there either!" I mean, if you could INSIST on being bumped to Grand Lido, why not just INSIST on not being bumped in the first place?........Jake
