Thought I would bring it to the right board.....
One of my favorite King novels is Needfull Things. Holy shit! I was laughing my ass off when the priest and the Methodist preacher had at each other!
But my all time favorite book is Sidney Sheldon's Master of the Game. He has a way of story telling that I love. Most of his books are good.
Also guilty of reading one or two Danielle Steele novels. She has one called The Ring...which was made into one of those Lifetime movies........It was one of the two movies that have made me sit and blubber like a baby!

I used to read Danielle Steele books all the time..... the one that got to me the most was Message from Nam it just kind of haunted me for months after I read it. I was never a big reader of Stephen King but I do enjoy reading books that I can "get lost in". I have gotten lost all over the world and in different places in time. Rupe is not a reader so he can not understand how I can sit and read for hours. I love to read stuff that I can pick up & get right into like Sue Grafton, Nora Roberts and Robert Parker.

I can't stand Stephen King. Too boring! I forced my way through "Needful Things" even though it went hundreds of pages before anybody even got themselves killed. I ploughed through about half of "The Dark Half" before giving up hope. Sorry, I know others love his stuff, but it's just too damn static for me......Jake

Salem's Lot, Carrie, Cujo, The Stand, Firestarter? Those are much more interesting than the later stuff & move along a lot faster. His work went to hell when he got straight IMHO, of course!

But ya know what's really cool about a lot of King's newer stuff? He ties all of his worlds together. For instance, in The Rose Madder, the painting that the battered wife "falls" into is the same world as the gunslinger. And the Gunslinger series...AWESOME!

PS Also a big fan of David Baldacci since he's close to home...
