Subtitled "American Journalism in Peril", it's non-fiction written by Leonard Downie, Jr. and Robert Kaiser of the Washington Post and published in 2002.
It's a fascinating read on how journalists get their scoops, sometimes a harsh critique on the laziness of some journalists on simple matters as checking the facts (duh) and real-life, behind-the-scenes accounts of some the best investigative journalism pieces that we read on newspapers or see on TV.
There are great candid interviews with Tom Brokaw, Peter Jennings and Dan Rather. Although the book is three years old, it's still relevant particularly now that both Brokaw and Rather have stepped down.
