I just finished this book last night. I thought it was a well written book, but on occaision it felt a little preachy. The author's memories of her Iranian student's discussions about the books (Especially the bit about "The Great Gatsby") was very appealing to me.
If you like trying to comprehend how people in another culture think and feel, I would recommend this book.

I haven't read this one, but always enjoy looking at life from a different point of view.
I read a book recently (very light-hearted sort) called "For Matrimonial Purposes" from an Indian (Bombay) perspective. Her turning into an "old maid" by her early 20's, the frantic search for an arranged marriage, how arranged marriages were not a bad thing, her move to America, her gradual evolution of being in America, and her parents response to it all.
I really opens your mind to more of a worldwide view even in a light read like this.

I tried reading this book, but didn't even get half way. I just didn't like this writer’s style.
I loved the Kite Runner and The Bookseller of Kabul though. Both provided some understanding of life in Afghanistan under the Taliban and after.
