This is one of my favorite books. It was written in the 1940's by Somerset Maugham and is a well researched and historically based novel about Niccola Michiavelli undertaking a diplomatic mission for the city-state of Florence. Michiavelli is presented as a calculating and shrewd but loyal and human diplomat. The title alludes to the timelessness of human nature and the work is as valid today as when it was written.

Machiavelli's own "The Prince" is as relevant today as it was during the Renaissance. The wording is a bit archaic, but the truths are there.....Jake
