Just finished this book by Irene Nemirovsky. It’s about life in France with a focus on Paris and the surrounding countryside during the German invasion and occupation in 1940-41. I found it interesting although a bit tedious in its style. It provides in-depth view of the French nationals of various economic levels and German soldiers and officers during this period.
The more interesting aspect is that the author lived it. She was already a well known French author prior to WWII. The book is based on notes and an outline for a book penned during this period before she was arrested by the Germans and sent to Auschwitz where she eventually died. Her daughter carried these notes throughout the war as a memento of her mother and only recently brought herself to read them all. Her daughter completed the book in its current form.
If you like historical novels about WWII, I’d recommend it.

As someone that enjoys history, it sounds like interesting reading. Maybe one day soon, I'll read another book.....or listen to one. DD
