Not a big college football fan, but I think I will watch this one. The teams seem to match up fairly well on paper. Let's see what happens on the field.

Georgia should be the National Champion. Georgia came close, they are #2 with USC #3.

That match up would have made either a great Rose Bowl or a great BCS Championship game. Illinois should have been matched up with Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl and either Georgia or Missouri in the Rose with USC.

With the BCS is talking about a four team playoff for the national championship in the futur, at least that is heading in the right direction. Maybe we will finally get the two best teams in America for the Championship.

Best plan I have heard of so far is an eight team roster... the winners of the six big conferences plus two 'at-large'. The first four games are played on New Years Day using the four 'traditional' bowls (Rose, Orange, Cotton, and Sugar) as the venues. They could even keep traditional rivalries with these bowls if they wanted (such as Big 10-Pac 12 in the Rose) regardless of 'seeding'.
The four winners play the following week in two new bowl games (call them Bronze and Silver until someone thinks of something better)... THEN the Championship Game is played the week BEFORE the Super Bowl, when the NFL has an off week.
... or they could use a national election. Americans LOVE campaigns and the 'horse race' mentality of polls. If we can elect our leaders by voting them in, instead of how they do on the field of play, why not elect our national football champions.

Because of what biased voting did to an undefeated Auburn team and SEC Champions in 2004. I'd rather the kids decide it all on the field no matter who the teams are.

I too am all for letting them decide it on the field. It can certainly be played out in the few weeks from the end of conference play through the beginning of January.
In the mean time, I do not think it was the ineptitude of the Big 10 or OSU last night. They merely stumbled upon a well rested, healthy LSU. And the last time we were in that condition was against VA Tech earlier in the year. And the results were very similar.
Others may argue their case this year for #1 but I would certainly like our chances against GA or USC right now. I very much like the statement made by the Tigers last night.

That's just what I thought when I was reading your NFL picks for this weekend. Guess we will just have to wait and see. Joe. Edited to add: At least I have the guts to make some picks. Your turn.

I already responded to your picks saying that I agreed with them, provided no injury reports later in the week changed the odds. As a NYer, I'm rooting for the Giants, but like you, I don't think they'll win; T.O. is going to be a game time decision, but the Cowboys could win without him (unless of course Jessica Simpson shows up at the game and jinxes Romo, in which case, all bets are off).

The over/under for Jessica Simpson's seat at this weekend's game is the 33rd row

If the Cowboys want to win, she should sit in the parking lot.

Does that mean Lindsay Lohan is in charge of the bar?
BTW, is that a Family Guy avatar? Love it!
