Ian,
Any idea how much snow you actually got without all the drifts?
Is that your car buried in the second photo?

Actually I got lucky my car is in the first picture. As far as how much snow I think we are at 30" and still counting.

The snow has finally stopped falling and the sun is shining right now. It's practically blinding!
The accumulations so far are: 13" in Central Park, 14.5" in Brooklyn, and 13.2" at LaGuardia airport. Outside my window I can see my car buried up to the middle of the driver side door on the curb-side and probably a lot higher on the street side. The dumb-ass maintenance crew decided to blow all the snow from the sidewalks onto the cars instead of onto the lawns. Duh!
The winds are in excess of 25+ mph and the snow is blowing off roofs and drifting into huge piles in the street, which has only been plowed once since late last night. No cars have come up my street today. I've seen only a few pedestrians walking in the trench cleared by the slow blowers on the sidewalks. Others just walk in the street.
Tomorrow should be fun (yeah, right!), walking five blocks to the bus stop. I wonder if they're going to clear a path from the sidewalk to the door of the bus ... or will we have to climb mountains of snow to get on the damn bus?

Thanks for the update you guys. The forecast busted badly down here south of DC. Barely 2 inches of snow, quite a bit of sleet. Very windy now with 30-35 gusting to 48.
Gonna be cold tomorrow morning, but no snow mountains to climb. Keep warm and safe.

Nice photos, Paul! I especially like the two little silhouettes in the middle of the first one.
Joe, I lived in San Diego for a year and a half. I concluded that the wimpy weather turned people into pussies. We don't love the weather here in the great midwest, but at least it keeps us tough (and keeps the bed-wetting liberal pinheads to a minimum).....Jake

Now if the ice and snow and -22 degrees run the bed-wetting liberals off, BRING IT ON................. Joe.

60 mph winds? Been there. We never got 30" of snow, but hey....I've had more than enough -40degree temps, 125 mph winds, and snow all year round to last me a lifetime.
I think I'll enjoy the 60 deg, balmy day in southern AZ.
Hugs~ Cher

I do really understand the difficulty that those photos represent to people living in them but they looked so good...
Now that sentiment may have something to do with the fact that yesterdays max was 104F and todays was 100F.
