Read the article. It is about the company removing one of their bears from the market due to sensitivities.

I think he's cute. My wife thought it was cute. Hell I would like to buy one! Why don't they put those jackets on the ones that bitched about it. Don't people have anything better to do, now they bitch about a Teddy Bear. It's a fucking joke.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Joe

OOHHHH, they're all about protecting the tender feeling of the whack-jobs . Like they give a rat's ass if there is a teddy out there with a push button paw singing, "They're coming to take me away hee hee, They're coming to take me away ha ha, to the funny farm..." BUT-do they even care about the bears feelings? Hell no. Like any self respecting bear would wear clothes...even the looney ones!! I think I will start a protest.

Like they give a rat's ass if there is a teddy out there with a push button paw singing, "They're coming to take me away hee hee, They're coming to take me away ha ha, to the funny farm..." I give more than a rat’s ass. As a strong advocate for the mentally ill (this means that I am all about protecting the tender feelings of those unable to do so for themselves). I have no problem with the phrase "I am crazy for you", however the straightjacket was insensitive. The negativity and misunderstanding that often surrounds mental illnesses can create fear and cause shame, which in turn causes unnecessary pain and confusion to those unable to advocate for themselves. This is the perfect example of the stereotype that continues to perpetuate the myths and ignorance about diseases of the brain that should never be separated from any other disease affecting other organs of the body. Neurological disorders are slowly being recognized as physical disorders from identifiable damage to the neural system. In other words, there are identifiable physical causes for symptoms once deemed "were all in their head". Simply speaking alcoholism and depression. Many states have adopted parity laws which now do not differentiate between the two recognizing the physical cause of symptoms. This means insurance will cover treatment. Perpetuating this stereotype affects the health care system and pushes back any progress made in discovery research which would find new treatments or possible cures for something that affects one in five adults. (Six degrees of separation come to mind.) We are talking about mothers, fathers, children, aunts, uncles. We are talking about people in every profession from business men, to educators, doctors, parents, white collar and blue collar jobs and the thousands of people affected by 9/11. War veterans with PSTD have put their life on the line so you can have the freedom of speech to perpetuate a stereotype. The movie "It's a Beautiful Mind" was historically significant in the education of public by breaking down barriers of some of those stereotypes associated with these illnesses. I wonder what John Nash would think of the teddy bear.

Hell, no! Every man/woman for themselves! Let the world scoff, the less crowded for us. ;D Besides, I question the definition of "normal" as it's a relative term. Who says we aren't the "normal" ones and the world is askew?

however the straightjacket was insensitive. The negativity and misunderstanding that often surrounds mental illnesses can create fear and cause shame, which in turn causes unnecessary pain and confusion to those unable to advocate for themselves. This is whats wrong with America now days. Everything has to be perfect, we can't upset anyone. Let's not have a laugh, might offend someone. How many movie's in the 50's,60's . and 70's along with TV shows from the same same period made fun of people wearing Straightjackets. Did anyone give a rats ass then? Should all those tapes from those shows be destroyed so that we will never upset anyone again? Magician still try to escape from them in shows, they are still used in Movie and TV Comedies today to sho some who is nuts. Should that be stopped also? Today everyone has to have a cause, and everyone has to have something to bitch about, and everything has to be politically correct. Make me sick. What's the big deal. It's a bear wearing a straight jacket that say "I am crazy about you", so what? BFD!!! What are the chances that a mentally disturbed person is going to get one of these for a gift. It's time that people start taking some thing like this with a grain of salt. Joe

This is whats wrong with America now days. Everything has to be perfect, we can't upset anyone. Let's not have a laugh, might offend someone. You know, I couldn't agree more, I do think that society as a whole needs to lighten up and put the fun back in dysFUNction and that there are too many PC's that do go over the line. Just not this one. How many movie's in the 50's,60's . and 70's along with TV shows from the same same period made fun of people wearing Straightjackets. Did anyone give a rats ass then? Absolutely not. You said it, "of that same period". There was a period of ignorance and many people have moved out of it. There are plenty of those types of movies out there right now and of course they shouldn't be removed however your outlook on this shows their influence. You are absolutely right; no one did give a rat’s ass back then. But they do now and that is what makes ch-ch-change. Just like it is no longer PC to expect someone in the movies to wear 'black-face" instead of hiring a black actor, or portraying blacks as solely blue collar workers or criminals, and much like in the movies how Jews were represented (pre-Schindlers List era), or that people from the south are less than intelligent, things ch-ch-change as does stigma when people become educated. Now, let's go pick on some dumb blondes. . .

Most of your point are on based on racism. And yes racism is not except today as it was years ago. The Teddy Bear had nothing to do with racism or even an intent at being racist. A complete different subject. My point still stands, it was a Teddy Bear wearing a straitjacket, that had no demeaning intent towards the mentally ill. If the do gooders out there can't except that, to bad. I am tired of hearing these people complain about evry little thing out there. Tell them to get a life. Joe.

Now now, you can take my words in whatever context you choose, but I was only making a humorous point as to the ridiculousness of being too PC, from the bear's point of view.
How many mentally ill people do you actually see in a strait jacket? My guess is that the HUGE majority have never seen one, much less been put in one, so why would a bear in one offend?
I don't take to making fun of any set group of people, no matter what their "differences". Whether they be black, white, blonde (me), redneck southern (me again), mentally ill, etc....except for vinnies...I make fun of vinnies......

Here is another one for all the tree huggers.
Kraft Halts Production of Roadkill Candy By CHRIS NEWMARKER, Associated Press Writer Sat Feb 26, 1:35 AM
TRENTON, N.J. - Production of candy shaped like roadkill has come to a screeching halt. The decision, announced Friday by Kraft Foods Inc., was the result of an outcry by New Jersey animal rights activists who said the candy encouraged children to be cruel to animals.
"We take comments from our consumers really seriously and, in hindsight, we understand that this product could be misunderstood," said Kraft spokesman Larry Baumann.
Kraft plans to stop production as soon as possible and then sell off remaining inventory, Baumann said.
The fruity-flavored Trolli Road Kill Gummi Candy - shaped like flattened snakes, chickens and squirrels, complete with tire treads - hit store shelves across the United States last summer and was supposed to be another offbeat and unusual addition to Kraft's Gummi candy line.
But the nonprofit New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals thought differently. Earlier this week, it threatened petition drives, boycotts and letter-writing campaigns.
Stuart Rhodes, the organization's president, said he never thought his group's efforts would be so successful.
"Did I think it would happen as fast as I did? No. I guess like most people I've become very cynical. All too often it seems that profit rules all. This was refreshing," Rhodes said.
The state of New Jersey designates the NJSPCA the enforcer of its animal cruelty laws. Law enforcement takes up a large part of the group's efforts, but Rhodes has stressed more public advocacy since he took over a year ago.
This is the first time the organization has complained to a company about a product, Rhodes said.
Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. is in the process of acquiring the Trolli brand along with other Kraft candy lines as part of a $1.48 billion deal.

Shit Ian that's fucking unbelievable. I guess some of these fuckers just ain't got any life to live and nothing better to do than stick the nose someplace it doesn't belong.
I believe that some place in Texas(not sure but almost) there is a restaurant who's menu is all made up of roadkill names. I am sure soon that some pinhead bed wetting animal right activist will go after them to.
Ian you called them tree huggers. Okay with me, but I got on for you.
How many of this tree huggers live in a home or have furniture with absolutely no wood in it, use no wood products at all. Talk about hypocrites.
Joe.

This is the perfect example of the stereotype that continues to perpetuate the myths and ignorance about diseases of the brain that should never be separated from any other disease affecting other organs of the body. Umm, it's just a teddy bear, and the intent behind the idea is a good one, not to demean the mentally ill. Do you object to the slogan or the straight jacket or both? I'm unclear as to how this truly offends the mentally ill. IMHO, this is not the same thing. Have mentally ill people been oppressed in some way, or considered to be 3/5 of a person? Have they been put in concentration camps and gas chambers? Granted, the practice of psychiatric medicine has come a long way, but I think you are making a huge mountain out of a molehill. I can understand that you feel strongly about your issue, but it does not fall into the same category as racism. I hate it when people choose to use civil rights/racism to make a point pro their group. You are comparing a stuffed toy to be given on Valentine's Day (good thing) to racist atrocities that occured in the past (bad thing). That's like me deciding to "March on Washington" in protest because my neighbor's kid who happens to be white decides he is a hip hop gangster. Is it stupid and IMO in poor taste? Yes. Is it worth me taking a second glance at? Only if I want a good laugh.
