Some easy cost effective ways to conserve fuel:
1) Drive slower, accelerate slowly, anticipate stops and ease off the gas early, on a standard, use the highest gear possible without the engine laboring. Use the cruise control when you can.
2) Keep your engine well tuned.
3) Keep the tires fully inflated.
4) Purchase a high performance air filter (such as K&N, etc.) They cost about $50 but can be cleaned and used indefinitely. They allow the engine to breathe better and increase mileage while increasing power.
5) Don't drive around with a bunch of shit in your trunk. Hauling around the extra weight decreases mileage.
