A strange thought occurred to me today. Is the saying: "One bad apple DOESN'T spoil the whole barrel"? Or is it that "One bad apple DOES spoil the whole barrel"? It's driving me nuts! What's the correct version?.....Jake

If memory servers me correctly (yeah fat chance) it is: One bad apple DOES spoil the whole barrel.
And it true, take it from a Farmer.
Joe.

Nope, it's one bad apple DOESN'T spoil the whole barrel. Just ask Donny Osmond (ha!) Remember the Osmond Bros. song, "One Bad Apple" ? ;D

I had all of his singles, albums, posters! One day I was listening to an album over and over and over again (not realizing that Mom was sleeping (working nights then). She had been hollering for me to turn it off but, heck I couldn't hear here! I was rocking out to "Sweet and Innocent" (come one girls, you know it!). She finally came out and grabbed my record off of my little portable record player and broke it over her knee!!!!! Cry, cry, cry! The next day she bought me a new one, though.
As to one bad apple? I would think that if one went bad (probably bacterial) and was in the center of the bucket, over time, yes, it WOULD spoil the whole bunch. But if it was on the edge, it would spoil those around it first and foremost. SOOOoooo, as a life metaphor, bad apples are fun to be near, but don't surround yourself with them, or get buried too deep near them, or you may get spoiled (or rot)!
