Now it is affecting me personally as I sit here on furlough... who do these cocksuckers think they are? BOTH parties need to come to the table and make a deal, the only people they are hurting are the ones that actually WORK for a living.

I'd like it to stay shut down until the budget is balanced, that's more in tune with the real world. You know, the private sector.

I'd like it to stay shut down FOREVER.
I'm sorry, RH, I know you are on the government payroll, and I'm sorry that it is hurting you (and Diana of R&D). But if we (in my perfect dreamworld) can totally shut down the government, your talents would be snapped up by the private sector which would rush in to provide the needed services, in a MUCH MORE EFFICIENT MANNER, and you'd make more money and we'd all be paying less.
Other than furloughed government employees, is ANYONE being hurt by this shutdown? I don't think so!

Other than furloughed government employees, is ANYONE being hurt by this shutdown? I don't think so! Jake this is the absolute truth, the pure amount of bullshit I have to put up with just to do my job is mind boggling. I actually have to inventory all my stuff not once, not twice, but THREE times using THREE different reports... FUCK THAT. I service servers that were installed when RONALD REAGAN was POTUS... let that sink in a second. Just upgrading our equipment to bring us somewhat up to date would save MILLIONS of dollars over the course of a year. My bosses are more worried about the number of tickets that I put in a month than what I actually do... they would rather have high ticket counts and pissed off customers than low ticket counts and happy customers... tell me how well that would fly in the real world. I have submitted a few ideas over the last couple of years on how we could save BIG BIG money by going to a virtual desktop environment rather than having servers (that are VERY OLD and BREAK all the time) at every site. Our last major conference call they were talking about how they want to start replacing some of these old servers, but the new ones are $6k... I was like WTF do we need full blown servers at every site for? These things are ONLY file servers with very limited storage. We could buy some REALLY nice Network Attached Storage that would do everything we need for around $1500 in fact I use something similar here at home for storing photos... it is enterprise grade with RAID 5 hot swappable drives... I love it and it has been bulletproof. We don't even need something with even close to that much storage at work... each site now has less than 1TB... we could go to one of the SMALL units and still be making a HUGE upgrade.
