My youngest daughter and I went along go see World War Z last night and loved it. No boring back story and long build-up to the key proposition of the movie, the action started right from the off in a traffic jam in Philly and leapt to various locations around the world as the much anticipated zombie apocalypse unfolded before our eyes. Whoever would have thought that such a big budget summer blockbuster would end up with the final action scenes in Cardiff, Wales though (baa)!! I really enjoyed this movie and at times was almost on the edge of my seat as the key protagonist, Brad Pitt, battled against overwhelming odds time and time again in his efforts to find the cause of the zombie plague and save the human race. These were not your classic shambling members of the undead though, these were fast moving zombies that set the blistering pace of the movie with their ability to reanimate within ten seconds of being bitten then seek their first victim...
Only one criticism... why didn't Israel just call the UN/UK/USA etc and say "Hey guys we're doing good here..."?

Thanks for the review Simon. Seen the trailers and the previews in the theater and have been at odds about this one. Know that you give a little insight to the movie I think I would like to see it. The problem is getting Denice to go.

Don't they have multi-plexes near you? Drop her off to see the latest Jane Austen adaptation, and you can see the Zombie flick. Or, as a last resort, drop her at the hair or nail salon.

Took in an afternoon viewing today. I have not read the book. And I am not a huge zombie aficianado although I am hooked on The Walking Dead. That being said I was kind of luke warm on Z. It did not have a zombie genre feel to me. It held my attention but I left the theatre feeling like I did not get my movie fix for the day.
I was fascinated reading about the original ending to the movie and how it was totally scrapped. A completely different feel from the current ending. Apparently this is the first of 3 in the Z series. I hope the next one is set in Vegas with Pitt and Galifinakis searching for the cure over a weekend of debauchery.
