Read it again... it's a spoof story from a website that publishes similar such spoof stories every day. In this case the story is a spoof of the news of the first ever gun made using a 3D printer being fired. I don't know if it's been a big story across the pond but in the UK it has made it into most of the news broadcasts and newspapers : www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-22424315

There was a recent CSI:New York episode about a 3D printed gun. In the story, the gun exploded on its second firing, killing the user.
Having a little bit of familiarity with 3D printing technology, I find it hard to believe that a gun made that way would survive even ONE firing. The material is not very strong right out of the printer. They would need some heavy-duty sintering or other type of heat treatment to make it practical.

I value having hands, my eyesight and my dashing good looks too much to risk discharging a plastic gun and have it blow up in my face.
