This new look for the board totally sucks The lack of visible keylines and rules makes it a nightmare to figure out where you are on a page... and when posting, where you are meant to type. On the plus side though we do now have a 'like' button

A lot of this stuff is adjustable. I just have to find the controls.

A few bugs to work out but I like the look. It's clean and modern looking.

I like that when you quote someone, the quoted text comes out in normal size by default. That alone makes it worth it to me.
Still have to figure out how to get "go back to top" on each thread, and time and date on the home page again.
Oops - never mind on on the "back to top" option. It is under the gear icon on every post.
Edited: And now I have the date and time on the top of the main page. Not very fancy, but at least you can tell when you last refreshed the page, which I like doing. Hmmmm.... looks like it's on EVERY page! That's cool, I guess. I'd still like it in am/pm and a little more professional looking, but it will do for now.

Notes to the boss.
1. Where the hell is spell check? 2. I don't like that their is no longer a preview option before posting a new comment. 3. I don't like that I can't reply to a comment from the recent posts listing.

I don't like that I can't reply to a comment from the recent posts listing. Anita - #3 - I just viewed this post in the "Recent Post" listings, and clicked the "Quote" button. It brought up the form to reply to your post, along with the quote. #2 - The preview option now is built in. At the bottom of the reply form (NOT the quick reply form, the full reply form) click on "Visual" and you get a WYSIWYG editor. That pretty much makes preview unnecessary. #1 - There was a spell check before? I never used it if there was. My browser (and as far as I know, pretty much all browsers) will give you the little red squiggly line if you misspell a word. And a right-click will bring up suggestions. Thanks for the observations, though! Keep 'em coming!!

Have never seen a squiggly line (like I do on a word document) but did have a spell check button on the bottom of a posting box. Grumble grumble. Like the Visual option. What's a BBCode?

Now that reply is screwed up. Looks like you can't reply while you are in the visual mode. It didn't look like I was in your quote before I posted that. WTF!

Jake. Also where are the icons for url, picture posting, etc. ? You should be able to see them in the last of the four blocks of buttons at the top of the 'create post' screen.

STUPID QUESTION. HOW DO YOU POST A NEW THREAD?

Joe, click through to the partiiclar board you want to start a new topic on, such as Generally Speaking or Mordor, and in the yellow strip that contains the board title you will see on the far right the link entitled Create Thread. Click it and away you go.

Good and bad things keep popping up on this new version:
On the good side, I noticed that if you start typing into the "quick reply" box, but then decide you need the FULL editable reply field, all you have to do is click the "Reply" button. It takes you to the fully editable reply field, but transfers over all the crap you've typed so far. The old version never did that. I think that is a major upgrade.
ON the negative side, I've noticed that both Tex and Simon show up as "virgins" with minimal posts in some threads (particularly the WTF Boston thread), but not in others. Never fear, though; in the Members list, you show up with full post counts and status. I'm assuming this is just a bug and will get worked out eventually.

It is a good thing that we can talk about reclaiming your virginity in a thread titled My Worst Nightmare

I'm kind of getting used to the new look but really don't like typing onto a black background, with no visible text box, when quoting or replying to a post. Can anything be done about this Jake? However, my experience of the board on my iPhone is truly horrific. Whereas I used to get the same view of the board as I get on my computer, just scaled down but expandable, I now get the attached screen grab. It bears no resemblance to the design of the board, it is fixed in size and does not show me the latest topic withing each forum to have been updated, who is online, or the most recently updated topic. No doubt they have made the experience so awful to get me to purchase their iPhone app. Bastards! Strangely though when I look at the board on my iPad it's still that same as on a computer.

I don't know about iPhone, Simon, but on my Android I get that same horrific interface, by default. But if you scroll down to the bottom and check "desktop," it takes me to a proper version of the board with correct colors and all the info. You might give that a try.
I don't like the black text box either, but I'm going to guess that is adjustable. I'll head on over to the support board and see if there is a patch....
Edited: Okay, I changed the background color in the text entry box. See how that grabs ya, Si.....

Thanks for the heads up on the 'desktop' function Jake. It worked a treat.
Much better too now the text input box is lighter and visible.
Cheers
